Ahh nostalgia of old internet... You're the man now, dog

Even if this website doesn't have a sound playing....I can still hear it......and it's a midi file......
The 90s internet was fucking awful, and I miss it so much.

I remember downloading naked photos of Cindy Crawford in 1996 on dial up. Every photo took soooo long to come through.

And you cherished those pictures, dedicating 1/2 of a 3.5 floppy to save it!

Actually I’m pretty sure I still have them burned on a CD somewhere ;-)

Ooh, CDs, look at this fancy schmancy fucker here! Those optical disks are surely just a fad. Durable data storage is what people really want. Like the ZIP drive!

ZIP DRIVE!

100 megabytes of storage POWEEERR!

Absolutely the last backup solution you will ever ever need.

I had a Jaz drive at one point, the 1GB zip drive that never caught on

lol. My ex gf wanted to get a bunch of stuff off her old laptop but was concerned that it might be too much memory. I handed her a Zip drive that was 3 times larger than her laptop’s capacity.

But yes, CD’s do have nice staying power — if you can find something to play them...

the 90's internet was amazeballs. It even had graphics. Big step up from text only

I dunno, man. Lynx was pretty cool. It had different colors and stuff without graphics to slow you down, man.

Does anyone know if the archives of suck.com are still out there anywhere? It's kind of crazy that stuff just goes away and you can't like go to the library to look it up.

Pretty gutted that my geocities site vanished while I was off travelling. Lost an album of music and a whole bunch of artworks that I'd kept there for good luck / backup

That sucks. I lost a bunch out of one online account a couple years ago and I honestly don’t even know what I lost. I’m trucking around personal art and writings, some of which I’d backed up on SpiderOak but I’m pretty sure I let my SpiderOak account lapse and I’m concerned about the long term viability of that of maintaining all these physical files as well.

I feel this site is very old now...
