The more elite a publication it is, the more honest it is. Foreign affairs is actually one of the best and most balanced publications out there even though it is run by globalist fundamentalists simply because they don't want to get high on their own supply. The single narrative, you are either with us or against us trope and the hyper emotional tone is primarily directed toward the middle manager class. The more elite the audience becomes, the more debating, self-critical, reasoned and open to debate the publication becomes.

Stop consuming news and instead listen to the odd seminar on youtube by the council of foreign relations, OECD or the FED. Don't read a pile of short news articles, read a handful of long format essays from the tablet, foreign affairs and the eonomist.

I would argue that the NYT is actually the most elite publication the US has. It also has an enormous amount of cultural power that extends far beyond the US itself.

Is that an apples-to-apples comparison with respect to elite though (i.e. the meaning of elite)? Seems like experts vs. fart sniffers. Agree on the cultural power/influence aspect.
