Like it or not, these are our allies and if we get into the habit of abandoning our allies then local civilian populations will be less inclined to work with us in future invasions.

If Afghans aren't willing to fight for their homeland, what value do they to have us?

This is not like the French or Polish during WW2, who at least mounted an underground resistance and actually fought for their country back. You can bet that once Canada starts giving these people free housing, free cars, free money, the Afghans are just going to recruit more of their family members to leave the country and live on welfare forever.

Losing a war sucks but Taliban are still Afghan culture. They had 20 years to either negotiate or destroy them. They failed at both, so now they must live with them.

but are still trying to be the "good guys" (dubious af I know) then we're no better than China, just doing a worse job at exploiting client nations.

Being the "good guys" is exactly why White nations are dying. We let millions of illegal immigrants cross the border instead of deporting them. Now there's an estimated 29 million of them in the U.S alone and they refuse to leave when we ask them nicely. When is this "compassion" going to end? When the last White person is demographically replaced? Sorry, but that's not worth it.

I'm not arguing the value of these people but it doesn't change our obligation if we want to have some semblance of moral authority. If we don't, we should abandon the pretense altogether and stop having our hands tied.

That moral authority came in the form of not carpet bombing the country into complete dust. If the West wanted to be a lot more evil during war time, we have weapons that are far more scarier than conventional bombs, but we never used them.

But now that the war is lost, it's not our responsibility.
