The essence of social liberalism is the motto "Don't judge". I, however, want civilization to advance and for the next generation to be of higher quality than the present one, and will make whatever judgments I see fit to make that happen. So I am not a social liberal. I don't like calling myself a social conservative because of its connotation of "bible thumper". When I agree with those types it is for different, non-religious reasons.

There are policies which present-day social liberals support which I do like, mostly relating to healthcare. However, those people are too economically illiterate and/or blinded by emotion to implement them in any sustainable way. The good parts of social liberalism are too important to be left to social liberals.
