All it took was like one or two weeks of media terrorism, with their egregious reporting which majority of people got fed up with, to get right to support their initial stance, which is open borders and everyone going to work back as usual.

Just some observation of media tactics, taking the opposite stance of what you believe in and being so obnoxious with it so people naturally take the opposite (your actual) stance.
