Has Japan's obsession with Jews ever interest you?

The topic of Jews almost always seems to be focused on their relationship with Europeans. But whether or not there is a correlation involved, what about lesser known relations with other non-whites? In particular the Japanese?

Japan especially seems to fill the role of the 21st century ethnostate that those in the Alt-Right want to replicate. Yet despite Japan being almost entirely Japanese and run by Japanese people, the country had a strange stint in its history, where it went against Nazi agenda and even tried to resettle Jews next door? I'm not making this up. It was literally called the "Fugu Plan".

Fast forward today and Japan really doesn't have such government plans anymore dedicated to another race. But doesn't it come off as odd that Germany's most important ally was also working to save Jews from Europe and resettle them within their own borders in the Orient?

The Japanese, like their Han counterparts, can see Jews very clearly especially given that they have no real experience with them. They understand their power and can be honest about it unlike people in the West.

The Chinese are exactly the same. They know Jews run America. They admire Jews and want to emulate their success. There are entire Jewish sections in book stores in China and the books are very popular -- usually dealing with how to emulate the Jews ability to accumulate wealth. You can even get The Talmud translated in Chinese which I imagine contains some 'Ingrish' style misunderstandings that would be pretty hilarious to study.

No not at all as the Wiki says the idea was to gain leverage with American Jewry by taking in their European counterparts.

So how do you interpret Japan's WW2 era goals of setting up a Jewish state next door, while being allied to Germany? Do you think this buffer state would have been used to make Japan more powerful? Or eventually go to war with Germany?

Well from the article you linked I see no indication of them being granted their own state. They meant to settle them in their territory and possibly occupied Shanghai. Like I said I interpret it as the Wiki article states that Japan realized benevolence to Jewry could be beneficial in its dealings with the USA. What's the mystery?

Edit: Ok, I re-read the article and the Japanese government really believed having their own Jewish colony would have earned them economic benefits from America. It's just hilarious in hindsight since modern Japan doesn't have any Jewish ambassadors yet they still have gotten positive trade deals from the USA anyway.

You don't see the immediate problem of Jewish refugees fleeing to another country while persecution against their kind existed? Unless Japan had some plan to keep them on a leash, there's no doubt any survivors would have called for revenge.

It was a mistranslation. I knew they brought Jews into their territory for some perceived benefit. It's the part where they actually believed in the whole "Jews run the economy" conspiracy that caught me off the guard. For further proof of this, I already mentioned that Japan does trade deals everyday using their own race, and they're quite successful at it. Having to recruit Jews because they saw themselves as being too poor looks contradictory.

    Yeah, I've heard of Beate Gordon before. But keep in mind, that had more to do with Japan surrendering rather than the immediate act of foreigners arriving on their soil. For example, the Allies made many more changes to Japanese society after the occupation, like having the Emperor renounce his God status.
