Everyone knows what race is and people who ask this question are usually trolling. If someone in real life really didnt know what race is, i would explain it as grouping people by where their ancestors developed, resulting in shared physical and mental characteristics. For example, you could draw a circle around the wide nose dark skinned people from Africa and call them black or draw a circle around the light skinned men from the north and call them white.
