I think you're overestimating the dignity of the older masses.

he gamed the algorithm as a normie-friendly content creator with the stunt-style "lol so random" videos that became a huge hit and from that he's got YT money, advertisement, sponsors and whatever else investment behind him.

What would be interesting to know is who is giving him money ("investments"). That's what I'm getting at. This guy was set up. Anyone could make his shitty content and thousands of people do but most never get anywhere because they don't have special connections like this guy.

However, I doubt they're the only ones. I highly expect Amazon is also sponsoring him just because I noticed he promotes Amazon often in his videos. I also expect YouTube is giving him some extra money alongside his money from video views, just because he is basicially a brand ambassador for them.

Your article also mentions he's gone viral (something that's probably never accidental) multiple times, and tries to ascribe that to talent (which is not present as anybody could make mediocre clickbait). So it would appear he's been propped up by Youtube for some reason. Perhaps he has a relative that works there? Somebody should look into that. Maybe I will, but I don't know how I would ever get access to the right info
