LOL that WotB is now being suppressed even on the front page of Saidit.

Everyone needs a fair shot.

But not yet specifically suppressed. Saidit is an equal opportunity suppressor.

They suppress just about everybody.

I suspect most SaidItors know about and use the /s/All. WotB is disruptive to them, in a generally good way - for now. Ideally they'll learn to branch out and post in topical subs too.

With pros and cons, it's the new folks who won't know about the /s/Subscribed and /s/All situation that the admin imposed upon us without consulting us, as usual. And this is, and always has been, the biggest problem of SaidIt - and is a main reason why SaidIt won't/can't grow.

But it's not like WotB was ever a default sub on Reddit either. Seems like a non-issue to me. I can see /all in my header.

    [–]JasonCarswellWay Of The Burning Man 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

The issue is that WotB may stay insulated in an echo chamber on SaidIt, akin to /s/TumblrInAction and /s/DebateAltRight - currently maintaining - and completely miss out on all the other topical subs and the wider community. When the wider community does better and grows, the entire site does better. When it's just little tribes, a few still remain but many of them have faded or died out or moved on.

Your "regulars" definition applies to the groups I mentioned, and others - as well as the "larger" small SaidIt community. I visit other platforms but haven't found one to relocating to. Yet.

Well, look at it this way: they may actually be doing us WoTBers a favor, by leaving us off the front page until we get our bearings, so to speak.

That is a reasonable way to look at it, except for one thing: Saidit leaves almost everybody off the front page, by design.

You have to know to go to https://saidit.net/s/all to actually see everybody.

Honestly, good. As much as I hate socialism, it's good to have more diversity of opinions. 99% of the people here before this are one of the same four things: libertarians, fascists, TERFs, and religious nuts. It gets boring in an echo-chamber, even if it's one I agree with, and it's not good intellectually; it stifles quality discussion. And there's just not enough people on this site in general either.

Besides, Bernie Bros imo are usually honest people, only misguided. The rest of the DNC is all literal tankies who want to turn America into North Korea.

libertarians, fascists, TERFs, and religious nuts

      What?

I haven't seen a single religious nut. In fact people here like bashing on jews.

By TERF you mean people at genderCritical and tumblrInAction? TERF is not an appropriate term for that, it's woketoid dog whistle for anyone that doesn't think trans women belong in women's sports. I also don't take "there's fascists here" seriously, anything is a fascist these days apparently.

How do the people at /s/LGBDroptheT, one of the largest communities around here that has been active for a long time fit into one of these 4?

With a bunch of people responding with variants of "damn, dude."

I don't think anyone has the authority or knowledge or right to judge anyone else based on their beliefs.

Just checking here... do they have the right to point out obvious internal contradictions in someone else's beliefs, when they see them?
Not "judging" per se, but "you might want to look at this part a little more closely."

There are a few religious nuts, and a few actual TERFs who hate men.

There are actual fascists, check out /s/debatealtright. Fascists were really rare outside of Voat until about 3 years ago, when tankie rioters made everyone want to be one.

/s/LGBDroptheT and /s/GenderCritical are controlled by TERFs. The reason I know this is because I and anyone who's male or empathizes with men in any way instantly gets banned. In practice only man-hating feminists are welcome.

We are not all socialists, only some of us. Some of us are conservatives; some of us self-identify as left of Democrats, but not (yet?) socialist. (That is where I am.) Most of us are former "Bernie bros." All of us are not still Bernie bros.

            IOW, we're not a monolith.

            [–]3andfro 15 insightful - 2 fun15 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I see why the sub's name can be confusing. To clarify: this is not a socialist sub. It's a nonpartisan sub that generally recognizes the uniparty and its owners as the barriers to better things for regular folks. Here, most see the fight as the 1% vs. the rest (top down), not Left vs. Right or D vs. R.

For a better understanding of this contrary place, take a look at the sidebar. Many here tune Bernie out since he kissed the ring of his good friend addled Joe.

Statistically this isn't the case. Blacks have a much higher ratio of assholes and this is their genetic disposition, they display antisocial behaviors all over the world at hugely outsized rates and it isn't something they can even change. Jews are similar, though their IQs are much higher and their antisocial behaviors are more sophisticated. They also have a grudge against Europeans going back 2000 years.

                    Welcome!

Apparently we all missed it. Every mode of production carries within it the seeds of its own destruction. For capitalism, the need for all these private (sovereign) individuals to coordinate their production efforts is too great and they are forced to cooperate. Human beings are social creatures after all.

This of course inevitably ends up in monopolies; the contradiction is, these monopolies are still in private hands.

To put it another way, if the government simply nationalized the internet, the electricity, the railways, the oil, the trees, and the water, who would even notice? Your day-to-day wouldn't change at all.

The revolution in the forces of production has already occurred.

Eh... Communism --> Socialism --> Capitalism --> Fascism.

It's a bit of a spectrum, from government owning the means of production, to the means of production owning the government. I'd argue that the sweet spot is somewhere in the middle with a mixed economy leading to max freedom.

I mean you can think that but that bears little relation to ML theory. We say you either advance from ancient -> feudalism -> capitalism -> socialism or your society disappears like in the bronze age collapse. There is no going backwards, no matter how much we would like to. The only reason the capitalists deploy fascism is to prevent us from going forward.

Quick clarifications for what it's worth:

                    • primary focus is to fuck over the establishment and its bullshit duopoly. Debates about socialism or any kind of -ism are secondary because none of it matters as long as everything is controlled by the same assholes, whether blue or red. It's top vs bottom first, left vs right can come later. And there will have to be a left again for this to happen anyway, which isn't the case currently. There's nothing 'leftist' about democrats.

                    • WotB has never been a "Bernie sub" filled with "Bernie Bros". It was always about the policies (healthcare, infrastructure, education, stopping the wars, throwing corrupt corporatist politicians out, all that) and was aligned with Bernie during his 2016 campaign because those were the policies he pretended to be willing to fight for. Given that he since abandoned all of those policies to instead focus on licking Biden's taint and pushing the BlueTeam™️ talking points, he can get fucked, all the way. That's also pretty much why, when I copied the banner images from the Reddit sub to put here, I kept the crowd and the title but didn't keep Bernie :)

So don't worry about all those misguided Bernie Bros who followed him right back into the democratic party, that's not what WotB is. Besides it's not a monolithic sub either, so if you're hoping for more diversity of opinions, this should fit pretty well :)

Though most of everything 'in the center' does tend to be cowardly corrupt dogshit. Sit on your pretend fence for too long and you end up being a worthless pointless establishment bitch like Kyle.

From what I've seen, monopolies happen because government powers them. They largely began in the industrial era, the exact time when government started expanding its powers. A lot of too-powerful CEOs are the giant centralized government right now. They own it and they all share the same goal: more money and power for them.

No matter who's at the top, no matter which shape it takes, the only way to keep them 'honest' is if they're scared of the bottom. Otherwise, they'll just step on everybody, as they're doing now. As Reddit's cunt of a CEO is doing right now on a small scale, but it's always the same pattern.

The WHO is another example of that. Entirely controlled by corporations and billionaires, and currently being given power over all member governments, worldwide. How's that for one giant centralization.

North Korea is such an embarrassment to leftism that the media tries to recast it as a conservative regime. Its horrors are twice as bad as Nazi Germany. It's like if reddit was the government, where you have to constantly fear that you'll say or do something or even be associated with someone who does, and spend the rest of your life being experimented on and doing hard labor. It's a terrible way to live.

Huh? Of North Korea is conservative, because as a communist country, they're going to follow the sensibilities of their people. South Koreans are just as conservative but sooner or later they'll be forced to conform to the woke mind virus.

The only possible exception to this I can think of is Cuba, they're under enormous pressure from the US sanctions regime so a) they're forced to adopt woke garbage and b) they can't develop their industry.

Beyond that, I would say that perhaps North Korea wouldn't be so paranoid if we weren't literally out to get them.

North Korea is what you get when wokeness is in charge. All that "punch a Nazi" and "Nazis don't deserve human rights" stuff (where everyone who disagrees with them even slightly is a Nazi).

There is no evidence that North Korea is conservative, any more than there is that Ukraine is progressive.

I'm not the first person to notice that the same libtards who said it was ok to punch a NAZI turned around two years later and made excuses for arming actual NAZIs with heavy weapons. Of course what they really meant was it's ok to punch conservatives, since liberals are the natural allies of the fascists.

Here's an excerpt of a statement made by President Kim to the Russian Federation for Russia Day:

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a message of greeting to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, on Monday.

He in the message offered warm congratulations on behalf of the government of the DPRK and its people to the president and the government of the Russian Federation and the friendly Russian people on their national day.

The message appreciated that the strong and wise Russian people have made proud history and culture for a long time since they took their deep roots in their vast land, and covered a proud path of development, demonstrating the dignity and might of a powerful country.

It said that thanks to the correct decision and guidance of the Russian president, the struggle of the Russian people to foil the hostile forces' escalating threats and challenges to deprive Russia of its sovereignty, security and peaceful life has entered a new decisive phase.

Justice is sure to win and the Russian people will continue to add glory to the history of victory, the tradition peculiar to them, the message stressed.

It noted that the people of the DPRK are extending full support and solidarity to the Russian people in their all-out struggle for implementing the sacred cause to preserve the sovereign rights, development and interests of their country against the imperialists' high-handed and arbitrary practices and to realize the international justice.

You might understand what wokeness is, but do you understand why it is? The key is in the use of the term 'imperialism.'

People who've toured there have witnessed it. They have walls put up so the only city you can visit looks like it's thriving, when in reality all the buildings are empty and people live in slums. You can get in serious trouble for taking pictures of things they don't want you to, I wonder why. Nevertheless several people have managed to do so. On satellite, there's a dark spot at night where North Korea is. There's also video proof of them chasing down shooting at defectors. And they're so obsessed with defectors that they've sent agents to kidnap them from all over the world so they can bring them and their whole family back to torture camps. And no one commits suicide in North Korea either, because doing that will also get your whole family sent to the camps.

The first problem is believing the corporate media, especially the Disney news network. They couldn't get Epstein right and they're supposed to get North Korea correct?

This is five years ago. Recently, Yeonmi Park has shown that Western Psyops continue to work

The problem is, Yeonmi’s tall tales have varied over the years, littered with factual inaccuracies and... poetic licence. How could this happen? It’s a question on many people’s lips as she surges back into the spotlight following the publication of her most recent book, While Time Remains: A North Korean Defector's Search for Freedom in America. Wouldn’t she remember whether her father escaped with the rest of the family, or was left behind to “minimise the risks”? And how did she forget about the concept of ice cream?

Below, we dive into some of Yeonmi Park’s wildest stories of life in North Korea, and why defectors are incentivised to embellish their suffering under the rule of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

Now in regards to the Pyongyang you're showing, I don't know the history on that. Here's WSJ with Pyongyang in 2018

This is Pyongyang in 2012 with Offbeat Japan

And this is some pictures of nightlife

All I'm saying here, is that just a cursory glance and you can be lied to about any country. The same stuff going on here, they used against the Marcos family in the Phillippines when they were taken out of power unconstitutionally. Imelda Marcos' shoe collection was the obsession over the fact that the family was helping the lowest Filipino and creating their own sovereignty.

You really have to go and recheck what you know because a lot of it matches propaganda, not reality.

Only if you know enough to go to s/all and look will you find posts from here. Then you do find them.

For some reason the owner re-added the default subs feature that reddit used to have. I don't like it, since it was one of the first things reddit did when it began to fall. But I think the real trouble was with the cabal of mods they appointed over all those subreddits, which isn't happening here (other than the owners controlling certain subs on their own).

WayOfTheBern is named for Bernie's Way of building coalitions across ideological divides, from his time as Burlington's mayor to the work that won him the nickname of "the amendment king" on the Hill.

Is he still doing that? Or is he now sheepdogging chumps into voting blue no matter who? Bernie betrayed his own legacy.

This is so true, i was wondering why their was so much garbage then i notice that subscriptions to all of saidit. Wonder why they do it that way

Yes the default subs was a huge mistake

Not necessarily a huge mistake, more of a command decision.

As long as people are not "locked in" to those choices and can find their way back out of them.

It kills engagement on non-default subs, and prevents any new subs from gaining traction with the exception of when entire Reddit communities migrate here. I always post to the defaults, even when another sub would be more appropriate, because you will get far less interaction on those posts, as it just limits your visibility to some users who won't see it.

Not necessarily. It would prevent fast gains of traction, but with new subs, perhaps explosive growth is not what's needed.
But with the right people, and a little time growth would still occur.

Although... the sub numbers do give some interesting data.

If everybody "on Saidit" is subscribed to s/saidit, that's 42,140 people currently.
                          (Plus however many unsubscribed)

There's currently 19,750 subscribed here, in s/WayoftheBern. That's a pretty big percentage, if they all came in at once.

Someone should make a Guide For Saidit Noobs showing how to go to https://www.saidit.net/subs/popular/ to add and subtract the ones you want and don't want.

Along with the recommendation to always check s/all every now and again.

What would you like to know? We can draft up more to add to the wiki & faq linked at the bottom of every page. https://SaidIt.net/wiki/index

Also, I was going to make a post asking all SaidIt folks what they think are the most important issues, topical subs, and community subs to list them on a SaidIt wiki page as well as https://Projex.Wiki (yes, I know the SSL needs updating). For what it's worth, I've tried to add all remotely related subs in the sidebox of subs I've set up for folks to discover.

What would you like to know?

I've got one, but it's more of a personal annoyance: Why can't I sort the comments by "OLD"?
I've been doing it that way for years, and I miss it.

On the plus side, having the new comments in a thread highlighted is great! Reddit has that feature hidden behind a paywall.

I don't know about either. I know about most subs though.
