So...if you were banned from here, would you go complain somewhere else about being banned from here?

I answered that question. I wrote, yes. I also wrote that it's already happened (read my comment history). I also mentioned that it doesn't matter in the least. I also asked you to stop trolling me. Leave me alone. I'll try to remember your username so that I can avoid you in the future. You are indeed a weasel, so this I should remember you.

It would be difficult to prove that automod is acting with bias.

I've discussed this with a WatB mod, /u/penelopepnortney

She clarified when I was shadow-banned that a mod will shadow-ban a user for "dickish behaviour", after which the automoderator looks for one phrase in that user's comments:

I like turtles

If the automoderator does not see that phrase in a shadow-banned user's comment, it removes the comment from view by other users, though the shado-banned person can still see that comment. A history of that here: https://saidit.net/s/WayOfTheBern/about/log

If there is no 'I like turtles' phrase in the shadow-banned user's commenet, that user will still see his/her comment (though others can't), and will get an immediate response from the automoderator:

Hi there! We appreciate your participation at s/WayoftheBern. This isn't a ban notice, but you are busted for either being excessively dickish, a brigader cosplaying as a regular, are too clearly a partisan gaslighting shill, maybe a bot, or you just finally got on a mod's last nerve. So, in place of a ban, this is notice of a 'tax.' To continue contributing to WayoftheBern you MUST rewrite future comment to contain the phrase, "I like turtles", and then RESUBMIT your comment. (Also, using an alt to circumvent the Turtle is a violation of Reddit Intergalactic Law, and both accounts will be banned.) Merely editing your non-compliant comment will not be sufficient, it must be resubmitted. It is simply an additional requirement for your comments. And as always, please enjoy your time at /r/WayOfTheBern!

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this sub if you have any questions or concerns.

I'm OK with being banned, rather than shadow-banned: noting 'I like turtles', though recently I've joined a discussion at WatB about building the community and have to put up with the 'I like turtles' 'turtle tax' in order to discuss anything with those overly sensitive children.

EDIT: /u/magnora, meet /u/penelopepnortney, who seems to have the patience to deal with questions

It does answer the question. Options for the question are: yes, no, or it doesn't matter, or some other response.

Put it this way, genius: yes, I and others are likely to complain about users in your sub, regardless of being banned, especially when we're dealing with insane BS on said sub.

It's simple: WatB is most welcome at Saidit, can ban users who don't follow Saidit rules (temp or permanent bans), but know that most users at Saidit are somewhat older than Redidtors and might be literally insane, but generally you cannot be overly sensitive at Saidit or we'll complain that you're acting like children. Cut out the childish idiocy already.

Read about Saidit and its approaches: Saidit tries to promote free speech where possible. Referring to someone as a traitor is not a major problem. Indeed, you note that I "deserve a lot worse." Now you've violated Saidit rules by dragging down the discussion. But that's OK on Saidit. What's not OK is promoting vioence or posting porn. Saidit is otherwise relatively free speech. WatB should adjust its damn rules to agree with site-wide general Saidit rules.

Jesus Christ, mate. I answered your question in several ways and still you reply with this vague comment.

You asked: "You would rather be banned?

I answered: "Yes, ban or don't ban, or temp ban."

Then you asked: "If you were banned from here, would you go complain somewhere else about being banned from here?"

And I answered: "It doesn't matter in the least if a user complains about your sub, especially if the sub is managed well."

And the reason to ban: "I think the turtle tax is for children, and reduces the exchanges at this sub to a low level of insulting discourse. "

So is everyone on WatB stoned out of their minds? Is that why I am getting these responses?

Top line for the sub's description:

WayOfTheBern is not a Bernie Sanders sub but it strives to emulate his WAY of building coalitions with political opponents on those issues where agreement can be found.

Do that.

For quite a long time this sub on Reddit and now on Saidit is primarily full of GOP misinformation propaganda. Almost everyone here would vote for Trump because you've been tricked into believing GOP lies. Reddit's WotB was originally not hijacked by the GOP misinformation propaganda, but when the corrupt DNC chose Hilary instead of Bernie, this sub was soon hijacked by the GOP propaganda. Many of you won't understand how this misinformation is paid for by the Koch brothers and other wealthy dark money resources. It's possible to look up this dark money, but that's a different discussion. Saidit's /s/debatealtright is similarly confused, but much more obviously in support of the lies about government that got Trump elected. WotB and DaR want alternatives, but much of what's available for them in the news media are criticisms that are funded by the dark money of the .01% and meant to manipulate angry voters so that they won't vote (which helps the GOP, which has a loyal voting base) or who will be tricked into voting for the so-called outsider, like Trump (corrupt AF .01% GOP narcissist). It's the main reason this sub would would never be among default subs at Saidit.

If you want the community to develop:

1) follow the money - know who is paying for the lies you are reading and why they want you to oppose electable candidates in local, regional and national elections

2) be SPECIFIC about what you want done in politics - rather than wanting everything from everyone and assuming all political parties are the same (additional tricks by the GOP on angry voters)

3) quote Bernie, AOC and others, and discuss those issues

4) don't trust criminals (Trump, Putin et al)

5) address real, practical, actionable political issues, rather than just idealistic interests - eg. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Realpolitik (don't let the opposition trick you with idealistic, selfish misinformation)

6) use Saidit to its fullest, as it's known for its political discussions and relative freedom of expression about those issues

7) community will grow when you can identify and develop support for your specific causes

Are you familar with the cancer-causing potential of atrazine? What are the chances that you'll get maximum contaminant level of 3 ppb of atrazine during your lifetime? Has atrazine already reduced your testicles and sperm count? Did you grow ovaries? Should we also be concerned with the pesticides that have killed bees? Should we focus primarily on unproven notions that atrazine has encouraged men to transition to women? Is there any evidence of that? Are you one of them? Should we instead look at pesticides in general and discuss the NUMEROUS dangers caused by them, rather than focus on trans people? Is RFK Jr's candidacy helped by Peterson and Rogan focusing on these idiotic issues at a time when RFK Jr needs to demonstrate his electability? Which percentage of the electorate care about anti-vax misinformation and trans people? 5%? 10%? What is extremely important in RFK Jr's campaign? The way he addresses corporate abuses? Are we focused on that? Should we instead be preoccupied with penises and vaginas? Why is your acount 40 minutes old? Are you a coward who made a 2nd account in order to insult me? Don't respond to me with answers to these questions. I can see already that you've lost your tiny mind, having written this:

Trump is the only person the US could have been locked down under while running interference for Fauci at the height of his crimes.

He is the best candidate available (which says absolutely nothing) simply because if he fucks up too hard we can set precedent for war crimes/ crimes against humanity then bring down members of the Cathedral.

I do think RFK jr and Trump should run together.

He's right, there's no such thing as consensus science. That's because academia favors the narcissist, or anyone who can stand out from the crowd. Crichton (who is a climate science denier) likely refers however to claims of consensus in science by scientists who claim their work is corroborated by the way the consensus. I think he's correct that one should be more realistic than that and try to examine the differences in the results than to assume there are so many similarities. That said: similar results in 100,000 science papers reveal a significant likelyhood that there is a consensus. If that was the goal, bad. If that was the result when many alternative experiments were attempted, good.

is your faith in modern medicine has been misplaced.

Thanks for both long comments. Perhaps we should distinguish 3 problems in the present case:

1) Faith - I don't want anyone to think I have blind faith in anything scientific. I can have faith in a higher power or in God, but it ends there.

2) Big Pharma - I've got no arguments against anyone who is angry with Big Pharma and the way in which they've been embedded in the USDA, as well as in other major medical decisions world-wide. I think we should be critical of Big Corp's hold on politics, via bribes &c.

3) Science - an empirical, rational, systematic, mathematical, methodologial, rigorously tested form or in-depth research on a subject. When there is a concensus among thousands of medical science professionals world-wide about their research on their numerous studies of COVID-related vaccines for the past 20 years, as well as billions of examples of those vaccines working in real-world-administered programs, I'd argue that this is very convincing data. It's very rare to have that level of billions of independent verifications of a vaccine.

If we'd want to discuss a conspiracy, let's look at the potential for the Chinese lab leak and the reason for 20 years of COVID-related research. Those developments are alarming, IMO.

I've also explained the dangers within my comments in this thread. I've also not discussed Ivermectin, except to laugh at the absurdity of it. Look at Amazon's profits, during a time when small businesses failed. Also notice that Amazon appears to be 90% Chinese-made items. Prices are up and Big Corp are making windfall profits. Extreme income inequality increased world-wide during the COVID pandemic. That should be our focus.

kid's should not be learning about sexual technique in school.

Fair point - though I'm not sure that's literally what's happening. Perhaps schools texts should be less specific. When I read the sex education page in my biology text book long ago I don't recall anything more than very basic pictures explanations of fertilizaiton of an egg.

The facts behind this are that this approach has been pushed for years by peados like Tatchell who want kids groomed to be able to pleasure them as they would like.

OK - ya lost me. I've not seen any evidence of this. If the Daily Fail could show this I'm sure they'd be happy to run it on the front page. Perhaps there's a secret group devoted to including in school textbooks advice on grooming kids to serve adults and we'll see news of that next week. Sorry, I just haven't seen that level of insanity.

2 problems: perhaps school texts should not be that explicit, though let's be honest that the recent movement against education, schools, teachers, kids, books, libraries &c is POLITICAL, part of a fascist playbook reminiscent of 1930s Germany, and a trend intended to help right-wing politicians get elected. That's more obvious than the assumption that kids are reading sections of 'The Joy of Sex' in school.

Just because I don't know how the American Airlines pilot operates a 747 doesn't mean that I cannot trust her/his ability to fly the plane. I don't have to be a virologist or a medical doctor to understand that the opinions of a few anti-vaxxers DO NOT outweigh the science and facts of a century of research and practice by the medical science community. There is no argumentum ad populum because science and facts and medical science research and practice are the bases on which I argue against the baseless, unscientific, false claims of the anti-vaxxers. AGAIN - this is not a discussion of OPINIONS of lots of people vs a few people who think they're smarter. It's about the science and facts of a century of research and practice by the medical science community versus a few people who are paid by dark money to promote lies, disinformation, and misinformation, and thus spread COVID, destroying the personal and professional lives of millions of people. Please remember those consequences of the actions of anti-vaxxers and the .01% who benefitted from those actions. I don't believe I am overstating the problems caused by anti-vaxxers, which have also been felt socially and politically (eg. here we are arguing about facts and the importance of science; how did we get here?), whereas you could argue that we should have an open mind about alternatives to vaccines. Sure, keep an open mind, but this should not rule out the necessity of scientific research since the 18th century. It shouldn't be an either/or problem. Anyone promoting the idea that we reject vaccines has helped cause a lot of damage to the 99%.

opinions

Anti-vax misinformation helped spread COVID and developed a following who'd rather believe in lies than in facts. Those spreading anti-vax misinformation helped ruin the lives of millions of people. Funding for that anti-vax misinformation came from very wealthy donors who benefitted directly when small businesses failed and Big Corp profited. These anti-vax people also believe the lies of Trump and others like him. These are facts. This is not a matter of opinion. Numerous people have suffered personally and financially from the misinformation. Whereas my earlier note is about me and what I know, none of this is about me or my level of education. We know that the scientific community for over a century have shown how vaccines reduce the spread of viruses. We also know that anti-vax misinformation helped spread COVID. Sorry Phooey, as you know, I've written this in various ways over the past 2+ years on Saidit because I think we should understand how costly the anti-vax propaganda has been, who paid for it, and why the 99% need to respond to the corruption of Big Corp and some of the 1%.

Twelve-year-olds are being taught about anal sex in school while nine-year-olds are told to 'masturbate' for homework: The shocking lesson plans used by teachers in UK classrooms by [deleted] in news

[–]UncleJemima 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Moreover those lesson plans are for one class in a course for someone who is 16 or 17 or 18 in the UNITED KINGDOM, where one can see all of that and much more on TV (and online). UK TV after 9 pm has shows with nudity, discussions of sex, documentaries on prostitutes and professional BDSM people, and so much more. Movies in 'Freeview' TV are edited so that the bits where someone is shown at the moment of being killed are deleted, whereas the bits with boobs and other nudity remain in the movies. In the US it's the opposite - you watch people being murdered on TV, but no boobs. Anyhow: absolutely nothing shocking in OP's post, not if you live in the UK, and there are no crazy parents hijacking school boards. No one's worried about sex education in schools, unless they're Muslim, but there are also no complaints from Muslims.

There's no evidence or motive for this.

Aaron may have been killed, but this was not because some people didn't like his political interests. Not at all.

His worst enemies had the potential to lose millions of dollars because he had taken a massive amount of data, some of which included contacts with criminals. He died immediately before he could be a witness against some of those criminals - in the ongoing court case.

My point about credentials is solely in reference to the "Dr." in the title, as I note that Hotez is indeed a Dr, not a "Dr.". He also doen't spread misinformation, so that would make him somewhat more qualified than those who spread misinformation. My main points are #s 2-3.

The correct term is 'uninformed' - because he did not know much of anything about RFK Jr until he heard the interview. (He did not initiallly have misinformation, disinformation or much in the way of information about RFK Jr. Very simple)

He's also correct about the anti-vax reputation of RFK Jr is a problem.

And he's correct that everything else about RFK Jr (other than the anti-vax misinformation) is intriguing. If one avoids the anti-vax stuff, the other points by RFK Jr are very good, IMO.

I love the term, 'human cockroach hybrid' (^ 😆), but here's were we disagree, "Dr" Phooey:

First: '"Dr."': Peter Hotez:

Received a BA in molecular biophysics and biochemistry magna cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa) from Yale University in 1980, a PhD from Rockefeller University in 1986, and a Doctorate in Medicine from Weill Cornell Medical College in 1987. His doctoral dissertation and postdoctoral training were in the areas of hookworm molecular pathogenesis and vaccine development. ref

In addition to continuing work on vaccines already in clinical trials for hookworm and schistosomiasis, Hotez currently leads a team of researchers developing vaccines against other diseases including leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, SARS, and MERS, and is also working in development of a Coronavirus vaccine. With Maria Elena Bottazzi, he led the team that designed COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax.

He's what we could call an expert of the highest order on the subject of vaccines.

Second, Peter Hotez is obviously correct that Spotify, Rogan and RFK Jr are spreading misinformation and that there are many followers of that misinformaiton. It doesn't require a mental heavyweight to understand this and how dangerous it is to have a large following of people believing in lies.

Third, Rogan isn't doing RFK Jr any favors by bringing more attention to the ONE ISSUE that will make him unelectable. I think RFK Jr is absolutely spot-on regarding all of the issues EXCEPT vaccine misinformation. He cannot deny science and facts and have any hope of being a contender in any political election. To my knowledge RFK Jr has tried to avoid discussions of vaccines in recent weeks. Rogan essentially used RFK Jr for Spotify $$$, without any interest in helping RFK Jr with the campaign.

Fourth, I find it interesting that E Musk has also been critical of the Dr, according to the article. This helps expose Musk's intention for Twitter as a misinformation engine that will support right-wing governments globally. What an evil SOB. Thanks for the info. (^ 💡)

Here's question #1:

1* Former President Donald Trump has been charged with multiple felony counts by the federal Department of Justice. Is this good for America or bad for America?

It's BAD for America BECAUSE THE US PRESIDENT SHOULD NOT BE A FUCKING CRIMINAL.

Rasmussen asked an obviously misleading question. Anyone would say that it's bad for the president to be a criminal and that a criminal US president is much like a banana republic president. Very easy to understand, and thus we can see that this is a survey that's intentially developing false information.

The Trump crime family's Jewish friends at rigtht-wing Rasmussen are trying to discredit a NECESSARY legal process. Corruption in politics should be addressed more often.

To be honest, I wanted for a long time to see a centrist Democrat who could speak plainly and directly about what the Party should do. Obama's - and many other Democrats' - first few months in office were like this, but they failed during the remaining portions of their terms to respond strongly to Republicans. Democrats also have some difficulty focusing on their message. They need to dumb-down their platform so that other voters can understand it:

https://democrats.org/where-we-stand/party-platform/

They could merely note that they're working on improving the economy for the middle class, improving healthcare, reforming the justice criminal system, improving the environment, reforming the immigration system, improving education, and restoring democracy. Many voters won't understand what's in that PDF and will instead identify with a knuckle-dragging mob boss. Just as the Republicans find wealthy donors to push their agendas on improving the wealth and corporate control of the US, so should Democrats put up a fight against this corporate control, putting more control in the hands of the people where possible. I've only seen that kind of strong response from AOC. Old Democrats and Republicans should be voted out of office.

I agree that money 'given' to the poor is not an answer to economic difficulties. Investing in the middle class has worked, as was witnessed in the 30s-60s. Trickle down economics created the extreme income inequality of today becaus the wealthy don't put that money back into the economy and instead hide their money overseas (which should not be allowed). There are some good reports on trickle-down economics and why it hasn't worked, such as this. One can look also to some European countries for examples the highest standards of living, with a fair tax schedule that favors the middle class.

Excellent points - on which I think everyone agrees. We can reduce military spending (eg. army bases), require the wealthy to pay a small percentage of tax on their offshore 'tax havens', develop the economy by giving tax breaks to poor and middle-class businesses, etc. We know 'trickle down' economics doesn't work, after decades of that rhetoric and the loss of the 'American Dream' for most. We know that investments in the middle class has worked, from the 30s to the 70s.

Or - we could do with fewer military bases - though no one's discussing this.

(I think the Ukraine military aid is relatively minor, in the broad scheme of military expenditures, especially for cold-war-related projects. The US has a responsiblity to NATO to keep Russia off of Europe's doorstep. Russia also doesn't have the right to take any portion of Ukraine, or to commit genocide and war crimes.)
