I was a college teacher for many years, and teachers like this infuriate me. I've stopped donating to my alma mater. This student should take the case to FIRE. https://www.thefire.org/

The instructor is also an idiot because this kind of punitive behavior is just what it takes to bring attention he/she/it doesn't want to the kind of petty authoritarian pedagogy being practiced here.

It’s interesting isn’t it. When I was at university any topics of discussion within a subject/course were allowed if you could coherently present them and were prepared to defend them against criticism. You may be entirely wrong, but the discussion always served an educational purpose.

Now it seems that universities and colleges are much more about spoon feeding the “correct” interpretations and understandings and anything that challenges them is verboten. It’s really not a good way to run Higher Education.

No, but it's a great way to ensure generation after generation of carefully primed voters and consumers who will demonstrate Pavlovian responses to a curated selection of trigger- and keywords. Now, go ahead and guess whether the powers-that-be are more interested in an educated population that possesses critical thinking skills or an "educated" population that possesses meticulous scripting...

Hang on, I know the answer to this….

"Conservatives" now: "When did we ever believe in small government, personal liberty, equality, or free speech?"

Me: "Uhh...literally just 3 years ago."

Con: "I don't know what you're talking about!"

Libtard: "Yeah. See, they're all just bigots and fascists and always have been!"

I wonder if they are capable of realizing how much respect they've lost and what a joke the whole profession is becoming because of this.

Of course, kids are now being trained in cultural hypersensitivity from kindergarten.

Yep, it used to be where you go to learn how to be an adult. Now it's an extended daycare where you check your brain at the front gates.

Thats not even correct queer-speak. It reinforces 'cis'-normativity, because being trans has nothing to do with being gay or straight according to them.

[–]LtGreenCo 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Queer-speak has no place in academia, except maybe as a phenomenon to examine. Their whole vocabulary is politically-charged and designed from the ground-up to be psychologically manipulative.

[–]xoenix[S] 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Half the time it's intentional. When they purged the old-thinking generation of gender doctors (the ones who thought most dysphoria cases had other mitigations) they called them conversion therapists and homophobes.

[–]Vulptexghost fox girl ^w^ 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Oh it's gone even further now. Now they call transsexuals transphobes for saying you need to have dysphoria to be trans, or sometimes even for having it at all (cuz gender is a "social construct", remember?).

[–]OuroborosTheory 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

that ship sailed like 2016: by '24 the hivemind of sophomore girls will have decreed the word "trans" transphobic because it implies that one group of women (who have always been female since birth despite their assignment by some uninformed rando during a less enlightened time) is somehow different

by 2025 the radfems will be back in the saddle and having a Y chromosome will mean you have an automatic suspended felony sentence

I thought it would happen, but it's likely never going to occur. Ultimately, if they say "trans" is transphobic as a whole, then they'd have to start calling themselves cis women by virtue of being trans women- and since cis is not-so-secretly their slur for non-trans people, they'll never do that.

[–]NutterButterFlutter 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I've seen hints of it beginning on Reddit already. "Don't differentiate trans/cis woman, that's other-ing, we're all just women".

It hasn't become widespread yet, but it's happening, mainly in women-focused subs like 2X, Troll2X, AskWomenOver30, etc.

There's also idiocy like "trans women are biological women", but it's Bardfinn of course, so take it as you will.

Yeah, well, Bardfinn has a special interest in rewriting reality like that. Because if that can get accepted (and that acceptance enforced by the establishment) then he's only short step from getting what he wants to rewrite; that children can consent.

[–]slavdude0 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

No. It's not "cis women". At best it can be, with a bit of good will, "women" and "transwomen".

A little from column A and a little from column B.

[–]LyingSpirit472 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Um, the respectable term is "women" and "fuckholes", for those alleged women who didn't need to realize their womanhood who's only purpose is having three fuckholes to use as a cocksheath for true women, as is respectful. Don't you know how saying otherwise hurts the future of trans babies?

[–]Q-Continuum-kin 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I can't watch the video but i wonder if the woman even had any idea she was offending the TRAs.

Also it doesn't reinforce heteronormativity as lesbians are "biological women" as well.

[–]Wanderingthehalls 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I suspect she may have. She said her proposal was for a paper about the effects of trans women in women's sports. So odds are she'd accepted some sort of push back at some point in her project.

[–]Q-Continuum-kin 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

That makes it even more confusing because the teacher said the project was fine so how do you even discuss the project without differentiating somehow?

[–]xoenix[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

My guess is that the teacher is just stupid and clumsily trying to make this project go away. Or maybe thought she could torture the student with passive-aggressive language games, but quickly got in over her head.

[–]UncleWillard56 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

What was the course? I mean, if you're studying biology and writing a paper about transgenderism, it's impossible to write that without the term "biological women." But if it's Gender Studies or Women Studies (which frankly aren't even valid courses imo), I guess you signed up for indoctrination. Kids, don't fall for the easy grade and brainwashing. Stop taking "studies." They will do you no favors.

Unless it's International Alcohol Studies, where the coursework involves sampling and critiquing booze from around the world. That might be a course worth taking, if your liver is up for it :D.

"studies" departments are literally just op-ed writers with tenure

[–]QueenBread 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Teacher here. Teachers are idiots because only and idiot would be a teacher with the current economical situation.

There's the "good" teachers, who accept that teaching is no longer a real, important job but has been declassed to extra side money you could hardly make a living of. But they're becoming less and less, as most of them are smart enough to move to profitable jobs. I've had to work as a store clerk to keep teaching. How many people accept that, instead of just finding a better job to use their hard-earned degrees?

Then what do we have left? The bad teachers. The bums who teach only because they couldn't find a serious job. And so, these scenarios happen more and more.

I blame public schooling for this. Getting everyone to have access to an education was supposed to improve the lives of everyone, on paper... but in reality it turned schools into the lowest common denominator. Because students become customers, and when you have to appeal to the masses, you get this.

There’s a clear message here: quit helping Leftist maniacs pretend that they are teaching. They are not. They are simply indoctrinating.

Enrollments are crashing in the lib areas, like English or Sociology. Keep it going. Go to a trade school or major in a hard science where nut cases almost never go.

Let them crash and burn.

I feel a bit odd making this observation but this woman is quite beautiful and healthy looking. She's obviously upset and stressed in the videos she's made but she doesn't appear mentally unwell. Contrasting that to the most recent examples of TRAs I've seen in videos, the young women haranguing Billboard Chris in Oxford, who looked underfed, physically unwell and mentally distressed in their body language and with huge dark circles under their eyes. And the young women arguing against an older woman supporting him in Dublin, who were all overweight and out of shape, though they didn't look as immediately ill as the women in Oxford.

Perhaps it's just a coincidence and how you look isn't a complete indictor of your mental or physical health but if I was the mother of the TRA girls I'd be seriously worried about them. Whereas if Olive was my daughter, I'd be upset for her in this instance and worried about online backlash as she is going public but she doesn't send out any physical signs of some sort of underlying distress that the other girls do. And I do wonder if some of the root cause of this, is an anger from certain quarters about how women like Olive look. She looks at ease in herself, happy, confident, healthy, obviously attractive and I do think that resentment at this type of woman is part of what is going on here.
