No fault divorce has just been made legal in the UK. The country's going to go to shit.

It was interesting when he tweeted it many comments were saying it was so obvious black culture but if you look at the book this is from it is a study of white working class culture. As Thomas Sowell said black Americans adopted the culture of the British poor and those promoting black culture are promoting that and not some deep, sacred African heritage.

Thomas Sowell on the Current Black Culture by Drewski in Sociology

[–]jet199 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

It makes total sense to me this culture comes out of the UK. We still have this in our working class culture now which is why white boys are one of the lowest achieving groups here.

Basically in the past manual jobs were well paid. You could raise and house a large family on one. But the class structure was such that being too smart could lose you your job so that was something to be wary of. You'd tell your kids reading books or going to university "isn't for the likes of us". I know people in my generation who were told that.

The trouble is that while cultures always come out of a way to survive in a particular environment originally they are also self-perpetuating (see this joke http://imgur.com/a/qNG97zT) so they can exist long after their useful has expired even when they are actively harming their people. So now those same manual jobs are poorly paid, often there's only service jobs available and bosses want people to take initiative not just do what they're told so people following the old rules are setting their kids up for failure.

The world has moved on and you have to keep looking at what's really happening, not rely on the world view you've been taught or was right a decades ago.

You said just what I was thinking. That is, Gladwell, a Jew, through some twisted lineage, has become a propagandist so I also did not read his last two books. Well, he works for The New Yorker so must be under pressure to produce propaganda.

Thanks for the correction. I wonder if Surowiecki is a pen name for Gladwell for as you said, the style is the same. Gladwell is erratic. His books What the Dog Saw and David and Goliath are both nonsense IMO. The first was just unreadable and the second is propaganda. David and Goliath is a repeat of a common motif in folklore, for example the Tortoise and the Hare and others. The so-called Old Testament is a rehash of many creation myths with some Gilgamesh epic thrown in. Christians would be better to throw out the Old Testament that portrays an angry, vengeful God, who would smite you for the smallest transgression. But, as George Carlin said, he loves you. Did he love Lot's wife, who dared defy God and look back at something— Sodom and Gommorah — burning? It seems to me that looking back was a small and normal act that did not require turning her into a pillar of salt but then who am I to question the Jewish God.

Sometimes you and I see things amazingly similarly. I am not religious in any traditional sense but am spiritual and that is what I always tell my very old mother who always asks about my "religion" when I see her. Since we're on the subject, I do not like the word supernatural since any event or entity is either natural or does not exist.

I knew about it, but I didn't know about that.

I read Gladwell's first 4 books, not the last 2. He's an excellent read, but I've since been disappointed to learn that some of his work is also propaganda, intentionally or not. Few escape my "purity test" as all of us, all our lives, are submerged in an abundance of misinformation and everyone has their biases to various degrees.

It seems like The Wisdom Of Crowds was written by James Surowiecki - yet part of it did sound very familiar and Gladwell-esque. It's been a while but I suspect he touched on it in The Tipping Point.

Mullins however pretended in his book that he made a big discovery even though all of the banking transcripts are avaliable to the public for free.

And he has dubious conevtions to Ezra Pound who has some interesting, albeit insane intelligence connections.

Yes and no. I agree obviously on some level. They were/are as manipulated as the Greatest Generation, the Gen X, and the Millennials, and the Zoomers. They made the ruling class lots of wealth and power and went along with their wars and covert ops and so forth, building the excessive military and oppressing the world.

However, if you actually watch this video, you'll see that he's not "blaming" the Boomers so much as pointing out that they have (unconsciously, due to the ruling class' systems) "pinched" or "stolen" - or as I'd say without the negative connotations "accumulated" - the majority of the wealth (besides that owned by the ruling class), prosperity, and opportunity that have been rigged to be out of reach for the majority of successive generations.

Sure many of the Boomers "woke" up and have tried their best. But most of them did not. Just as now, many of other generations are also sleeping sheeple and are responsible for not rising up and resisting the rigged corrupt unfair systems.

Ironically this is before the manufactured coronavirus crisis, and the stock market pillaging of the Boomers' wealth, again as in 2008. And now this "pandemic" and eugenics programs seem to be aimed at taking as many Boomer "useless eaters" down as possible.

There are pros and cons to large generations. A large school class gets you less attention and personalized education. The small class in the year before a large class won't have all the resources that could be made available to that large class - but a small class after would have MUCH more plus the personalize attention.

I can't completely disagree with what you wrote. Still, we have affirmative action, quotas, bonus SAT points, and racial preferences - all based on race.

We have HUGE socioeconomic delimiting data, based on race: truancy, HS drop out rate, teen pregnancy, fatherless families, CRIME, etc.

There many physiolgoical, biological differences in races: Average IQ, temperament, age at first menstruation, likelihood to have twins, likelihood to have head lice, immunity from various diseases, tolerance to some foods/alcohol, bone density, heart size, height, weight, etc.

We know most people prefer to date same race (we know this from dating site data and neighborhood choices for home buying/renting).

85% of churches are 90% or more same race.

People prefer to live around, go to school with, socialize with, be served by, and marry people of the same race.

In a 2014 survey, the Public Religion Research Institute found that the average white American has 91 white friends, one black friend, one Latino friend, one Asian friend, one mixed-race friend, one friend of an “other” race and three friends of unknown races.

The average African-American has 83 black friends, eight white friends, two Latino friends, no Asian friends, three mixed-race friends, one friend of an “other” race and four friends whose races are unknown.

Further, 75 percent of the whites interviewed in the study had no friends of other races. Among black respondents, nearly 66 percent had no friends of other races.

Literally everyone is mixed to some extent, if not in the past 100 years, then in the past 5000 years. Latin Americans are literally a mixed race that did not exist even 500 years ago. 'White' people are a melting pot of European races, many of which mixed with Middle Eastern and Asian people. What current day Americans think of "white" and "black" is a product of American culture over the past 200 years, and in my opinion the only reason skin color aligns is because people subconsciously label themselves as part of their preferred "team". In other words, in America, racial lines are self-enforced. People are perpetuating the racial divide (especially leftist Democrats) exactly along the cultural line (i.e. by shaming those who don't conform, i.e.i.e. Kanye West).

I get your point...on the other hand, (more of a question), many blacks may have white ancestry. Look at some blacks, like Obama, he doesn't look 100% black. And, I've read the reason African American average IQ is 85 and not 70 as is the average IQ of sub saharan Africans is because many African Americans have white in them. Again, this is something I've read; I don't know for a fact.

If Obama is tecnically mixed race as you descibe and both of Michelle's parents are black, are his kids mixed race or black? I don't know.

Still, If I could come up with a definition of white, I'd use those people whose ancestors lived in Europe 500 years ago. This isn't a perfect definition for the same reasons above - race mixing generations ago.

Same culture, not same race. "Race" is incorrectly used by 99.99% percent of people. As an example Obama is half-white, half-black, yet he is considered black. That makes no sense. If we used "race" correctly Obama would always be referred to as mixed race and would never be claimed by black people. If we used "race" properly, we would have to memorize 20+ categories if we wanted to guess at first glance what someone is.

They are saying "having a father" is the small shift in culture.

They are correct. But I think its bullshit because they should never have shifted AWAY from having two parents in a household.

Whats happening to this world.

I see how differently people are acting these days. If you watch the "news" or msm (MainStream Media) then perhaps you notice that they act like a bunch of whiny brats. I am tickled that you noticed I am so worked up over the article. I was! My reason was not so much the article itself, it has to do with people being directed in WHAT to think or HOW to act.

Perhaps no one cares but I think some people do. I have a lot of friends who text & talk in this way, and don't see a problem with it, so I don't know if it's about people caring or not caring more so than narratives that can prevail in society if it they are perpetuated enough. I agree it is a distraction & meant to divide us or drive wedges in society (which is the overall job of the media in general) but I don't agree that no one cares. I think people think a lot about how they communicate vua text or online, &I think that is coloring both or in person interactions &our online ones. Thats the main problem I see in the whole thing. I could care less whether someone puts yes no pk with zero or 100 exclamation points. But when the narrative is that people need to speak a certain way, loke example given about the doctors office, then it starts to get to me a little bit. It puts too much on the interpretation instead of the intention. It makes it so however the receiver interpreters what the person says is more important that ehat the intention was, which makes everyone responsible for everyone elses feelings. Thats my maon problem in a nut shell, not that I think it's important or people should care but just be aware. If some people in society start adopting this or see this as correct &some don't we won't be able to speak to eachother properly.

I agree, but perhaps no one actually really cares, and the media is just convincing us we need to alienate ourselves from each other, when in fact we don't. They're just driving wedges, it's part of the strategy of divide and conquer. If there are a million wedges and you believe all of them, then every man becomes an island and we are easy to conquer in our disunity.

People who speak like that sound silly & to try & normalize it is also silly. No one needs to speka like that or worry about putting exclamation points after everything to make someone else feel ok. It's snowflake stuff & this article attempts to normalize this way of interacting which to me is an issue. Above all I think it's a waste of time & energy.

More and more I realize this fear about "society" is actually isolated to the rare 1% of people who actually act and think like this, and speak loudly about it and so get a lot of media coverage. The other 99% are just minding their business like usual. But it sure doesn't look that way if you watch the media all day.

Snowflake? How about Snowflame, the cocaine powered superhero from the 1970s.

Let's just legalize all the drugs and return to the golden age of the early 1970s before the political correctness thing kicked in "high" gear.

Then we can do this global warming thing right and melt all the snowflakes.

I think this comment from the comment section sums up my opinion about this:

Nick Douglas 11/26/19 10:06am and people wonder why we introverts hate everyone. you all keep inventing these stupid rules and making interacting with anyone a complete chore. if somebody thinks im rude or dismissive by typing “ok” to their text and gets offended, they deserve it and they did it to themselves. as far as im concerned they are doing my job of weeding themselves out of my contacts list for me.

In person, when you want to say something politely, you say it less efficiently. You “make an extra effort,” says linguist Gretchen McCulloch in her book Because Internet, “using hedges, honorifics, or simply more words: ‘Doctor, could I possibly trouble you to open the window?’ versus ‘Open the window!’” Online, you do the same, with different tactics.

This makes sense and seems to line up with how I've observed people speaking, and I'd imagine that it lines up with the past hundred or so years of speaking patterns. Why exactly are you so worked up over the article?

The Management Myth - Taylorism and the Origins of Scientific Management (Myth20c - Ep123) ~ Myth of the 20th Century by JasonCarswell in Sociology

Show notes:

America today - in business, government, and most elite institutional organizations - operates under a rubric many would describe as managerialism. It is a belief that the best results can be achieved through rigorous quantitative measurement and elimination of processes (and people) that do not measure up. It is a decidedly material approach to running a system, and in terms of total output, efficiency of inputs consumed, and other tangible attributes, it can result in improvements. But when it comes to things harder to measure - quality, happiness, and the spiritual direction of a people - management science, a contentious term in of itself - often fails to deliver. Tonight we’re joined by Henry Mencken to discuss how Taylorism, the movement that started it all, led America to win in war and peace, but lose on many of the fundamental human issues we all face when we get home at the proverbial end of the day.
