Why Reddit is losing its battle with online hate by portcity in WatchRedditDie

[–]proc0 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Nithyanand thinks that he and his colleagues’ findings strongly indicates that Reddit needs to radically reform its moderation of hateful content, from the application of its policies to the tools that it is using by incorporating more machine learning and A.I. to assist human moderators spot and handle content potentially in violation of the platforms’ rules.

They haven't yet learned anything from Tw & Fb? #1 reason they can't deal with this is because they have an obvious bias which means they often infringe on freespeech which makes people want to fight back. The more they try and control information, the more people will want to fight back or will just go somewhere else. I'm pretty sure no one likes to be censored based on context (or lack thereof in some cases whenever it's convenient of course), which is a new thing. Censorship used to be a list of words, now it has become banning your intentions, so they try and read hard into this and obviously fail.

Trans Doctor says that most of his young clients are already prostitutes......!!!???!!!??? by Key_Resource in news

[–]proc0 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

One definition of evil is corruption of innocence and destruction of people's lineage (a.k.a genocide). I still remember having an innocent mind, being almost afraid of anything sex related, until I was about to hit puberty and even then it was a slow learning process. What these trans folks are doing to kids is corrupting their innocence, forcing them to think of sexuality too early, and changing their minds forever, and probably setting them up for an identity crisis as they grow up.

I'm all about freedom, and people doing what they want. However, kids are the future, and if you mess with them, you mess with the future of humanity. Imagine an island where everybody is gay and/or trans... that island's population will decline fast and they will go extinct. Corrupting children contributes to the extinction of humanity. It doesn't get more evil than that.

Can't be sure obviously, however needless categorization is a good clue because it leads to judgement of groups of people solely based on skin color. Zionists are a good example of how this happens even though it's not really race, it's based on religion and nationality, but the idea here is that there's an "us vs. them" mentality being created by simply categorizing people in a context that does not need it.

Yeah because it's an actual issue there. A simple google search will show many articles, and also I've seen documentaries on YT. There's even the term "herbivore" if you didn't know, which originates in Japan. Also Japan is not a race, was just pointing out that it's obvious OP just said "white" not for objective reasons but just because they probably frame things this way all the time.

Is Tarot Card Reading a good Career option? by teamlp in Education

[–]proc0 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Why would this be real in any capacity? Predicting the future is useless without accuracy, meaning if your correct/wrong ratio is say 50%, your reading is wrong 50% of the time. Where is the usefulness in this prediction? If Tarot predicts the future 80% of the time, then everyone would learn this skill. In contrast, established science predicts the future 99.999999999999% of the time (probably more 9s) (i.e. E=mc2).

So yeah bad career.

Just pointing it out because it would "count" as woke point I guess, but in recent trends it's definitely not enough, they will cast a gay, handicap, woman of color. And yeah I agree it's not super hero but I fear it would be treated just like recent super hero movie trends.

I hope Keanu says no to any wokeness and hopefully quits if not. They're going to ruin this like every other super hero film by focusing on sexuality and race as if it was that important for a sci-fi, not to mention Keanu is gay (I think), so wokeness points should be enough but not in today's standard of grown men suing beauty salons for not shaving their balls.

They have become authoritarian. Whoever the leadership there is, probably has authoritarian tendencies as well. This just means their days are counted. Crowd sourced content is no longer the goal of the site, and probably thinking how to change the platform to further brainwash users. The problem is platforms that think they can and/or should control their users, often luring them in at first with no control, and slowly exerting more and more. I think platforms might have to soon start declaring user rights as one of their business goals, to clearly declare how they feel about freespeech and what they will do from the beginning. This way people can choose without committing months and years of data.

Was being hyperbolic (should have made it more obvious in hindsight), of course not saying to actually redefine words. Just pointing that usually a conversation is going fine without making any race distinctions until someone starts accusing someone else of something having to do with racism.

Just saw some news on a lady accusing another guy of telling her to "go back where she came from" in a grocery store, but she probably misunderstood from all the evidence (including video), so ironically it seems the one calling the other racist IS the actual racist. Everything was fine if she had just interpreted in a normal way, even if the guy was being rude. There was no need to bring in race into that context, but she did, and therefore etc., etc.

You would think it's obvious that banning and censoring doesn't actually accomplish what it sets out to accomplish, EVEN if it was done right without the power corruption risk. Best examples of censoring working are from kings and emperors that also have absolute authority to silence anyone opposing the reason behind the censoring. Reddit and the rest of the woke left does not realize that without power your authoritarian tendencies will just die slowly (and with power it would require fighting back in some way). Either way, you either die slowly or have to fight a bunch of people that disagree with your censoring, so unless you're dealing with a bunch of kids or you are an emperor that can order the head of your dissenters, you shouldn't be censoring anyone.

California: America’s First Third-World State by dcjogger in news

[–]proc0 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

How do you prevent someone from moving to a place they can't possibly afford to live in, and very little chance of even trying? Free market has spoken in many places in CA, if you don't have the skils to survive in the handful of industries like tech and film, chances are you won't be able to afford living in several cities across the state. Is this stopping people from trying? OF COURSE NOT. Everyone and their mom wants to go to CA. Obviously this is a huge problem, and then you have idiots that live in the streets of San Francisco as if they even had a chance to work in any tech company to begin with. Untrained, uneducated people should simply not attempt to go to urban areas that have a high skill market DEMAND. The real problem in CA, is how soft the government is on people who decide to live on the streets because they are delirious and think they can somehow tap into the flow of money but all they accomplish is further saturating the streets as if there is nowhere else to go.

I think particularly extreme metal genres like death/black metal are tapping into a super primitive part of our psychology, a part of our minds that hasn't been used since the medieval ages in times of war, in the bloody battlefield were you are raging as hard as you can to survive. That primal feeling of dying, and the embrace of dark emotions is at the heart of metal. Without fear of death, you either win the battle or you die trying (thus you can't lose).

Adding to this point:

Thus, if you fully trust the media, even comedy media, you are setting yourself up to be literally programmed like a computer.

We should be careful not to contradict this whole perspective by subtly shifting responsibility to the media, attempting to excert control of our own by making them do X, Y or Z. Media is free to sell influence as long as they disclose and are not breaking laws, because then a big part of the responsibility falls on the viewers and listeners to discern good content from bad content.

To summarize this, the people who get the most "programmed" are the ones who are most likely to be fans of whatever content they consume. This is what causes the cancer that is mobs of people believing whatever is put in front of them, thus allowing bad actors to excert control.

What is a Dollar? It is a unit of measurement similar to a foot, which is ALWAYS 12 inches. In the US, a Dollar is, and always has been, 371.25 grains (0.773 troy oz) of pure silver. So you're saying money has a fixed value like distance measurements? you must think trust is a physical, visible, object you can touch and measure. Prices aren't fixed, obviously, and the dollar has a price... simple logic proves money has subjective, dynamic value, and therefore you cannot just use a simple mapping rule of measurement where X unit = Y value (like for immutable, objective measurements).
