What there is is a difference between active and passive sitting so sitting and doing something active with hands or reaching around is different to sitting zoned out in front of the TV or scrolling.

Right, I think specifically it's chairs where you can lean back and relax which are the problem (along with a lifestyle that uses them all the time). This does include cars, so that's one major way people end up spending lots of time in that position. I agree, an active sitting probably nullifies the bad effects.

I suspect it's not just diet, and a huge part of the problem is lifestyle choices that seem inconsequential otherwise. For example the fact that most people spend a lot of time sitting down... humans didn't evolve to be in that position for lengthy periods of time over many decades as we do. Another one that isn't that talked about is soft beds, which over time fails to promote healthy blood flow and fluid movement between muscles and fat. Soft beds also promote bad sleeping positions which further add to hurting blood flow and such.

All of these combined, including bad diet, and you get a rapid deterioration of the body, which most people then turn to pharma for help and of course they fix it via brute force with drugs, machines and intervention as oppose to helping the body return to its natural equilibrium.

Polio is deadlier, and even then not 100% of the population got immunized, right? Only the vulnerable, which were children. Besides, if one solution worked for that disease, it doesn't mean the same solution will work for the next disease. The main objective should be to protect people from dying, and secondarily the hospitals from overflowing... but was that the main priority? If it was why weren't at-home treatments developed? Why are alternative medicines suppressed by hospitals, in favor of the "official" treatment(s)? The jab does nothing to stop this. It just reduces serious illness in older people, and offers a tiny chance to slow the spread. This is not even controversial now.

There is a subtle false equivalence that the jab is the ONLY solution to the whole pandemic, and saying otherwise means you want people to die. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy what is happening at a societal level. Blacks play out the victim card so hard, they start getting hate for it and therefore a fraction of those times they become victims, and the cycle continues. Nothing wrong with that in theory. The problem is large corporations taking advantage, and exploiting the system, especially when they collude with government, and even more so when that corporation is meant to treat people's health.

So this isn't about capitalism as much as corrupt systems going unchecked, first by the government (which have now apparently sided with them) and then by the people who seem to have been completely gaslighted into "believing the science" without questioning it. Science is not meant to be dogmatic, but that's where we're at.

Authorities have leveraged the fear of an emergency in order to get people to comply, and at the end of the day, that is the real danger. Once the infrastructure is built to check everyone's health records, I can bet a lot on government using that for other purposes. By then it will be too late to push back and even if the masses wake up to it, the system has already been rolled out.

If I'm wrong, then there will be no problem with some people remaining outside of this system... since power and control is not the end goal... but the rhetoric and actions so far is not pointing in that direction.

I disagree with that decision, but I think ultimately it's because the jury has already been primed that blacks deserve unfair trials (in their favor). Maybe you should consider Freedit as a fediverse platform? I've been trying to learn more about it, to see if the problems I mentioned are solvable there or maybe there's an existing one that solves it. I know there is Mastodon, but heard it has the same problems. Perhaps a new one on there could be the solution, and it would still be allowed to benefit from the larger existing network.

Right, but this is precisely the problem. And what happens is that the sites start off with great intentions but because the free speech line is so hard to pin down, inevitably the new people come in and ruin it by interpreting that line as something that tramples on free speech for most people.

Presumably growth and reaching millions of people is part of the goal, since other smaller boards do allow the free speech you're talking about (like the 4chans and such). I understand you have good intentions but you won't be able to monitor all the conversations and impose your goodwill for very long if you intend on growth to happen. That's why either the free speech line has to be formally defined (with strict definition that covers almost every possible corner case), and/or the site has some novel feature(s) for ensuring that the future mods will not trample on the free speech.

I think there are some solutions there, but it would require a vastly different structure to the forum platforms, and therefore probably new code from the ground up.

It's not that I'm not on Dave's side, it's that this conversation is so "late to the fight" so to speak, it almost feels like it's controlled opposition. It's so fucking obvious (the gender issue), it doesn't deserve to be discussed as a controversy. Ok, i was reviewing that other thread. Interesting so far, but IMO it's not enough to really come up with something much different than Saidit.

For example, you said:

Then you mention how mods would have total control over their subs... how do you reconcile these two features/ideas? In theory it's a contradiction. Either mods have FULL control and allow literally anything, or by definition they will have PARTIAL control. Where that line really is, I think is besides the point, because you will be in the same position as Saidit where someone else is telling you what is allowed in your sub. You can argue, well porn is obvious, however there is infinite amounts of gray area where the discussion could never end as to what should or should not be considered porn, depending on the sub.

In other words, if it's not the owner of the sub having FULL control, then eventually the discussion of where the boundaries are for PARTIAL control would land you more/less where Saidit (and even Reddit) is at the moment. This is the core of a lot of the problems. People disagree on what is allowed, but that's because it's almost impossible to define that line of partial control.

At least in SF where some of same headlines were floating around, it's not fake or at least most of it. I experienced several last year and year before, and while it wasn't dozens of people running and being filmed, it was still pretty bad (usually two or three casually putting stuff in bags). I personally don't. They can do whatever, it's irrelevant... but that's what they hate. They don't want to be irrelevant, they want to be the center of attention, and they want to make sure your thoughts align with their thoughts, so you can't think they're not the gender they say. (and to be fair, there is something to be considered there, but it has more to do with psychology than politics as it is now).

The problem is impossing it on the culture at large, and doing so through people's goodwill to not offend anyone. There is no parallel to blackface that I can see. One is kind of political movement changing the world, and the other is just dressing up as someone else. I guess blackface could be compared to drag... but even that is a stretch. Blackface is simply a costume.

What's happening is that the Right gets ultra-censored, and there is almost no platform for any even remotely conservative entertainer, film-maker, or what have you. So when someone on the Left who has a platform somehow sneaks in a few minutes of a much needed pushback against Clown World, people are responding positively because they're starved of any cultural victories.

What is the solution? We probably need a conservative YouTube, that is just as big, and an alternative Twitter, that is just as big, at least. I disagree the philosophy of the founding fathers has failed. It is instead being rejected, which is different. One of the key sentences in the declaration of independence is:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

First, we must believe in a higher power than humans (Creator), and the precise detail don't matter. However when humans assume this position, that is when immorality takes over and people think they can rule of others.

Then you have "the pursuit of Happiness". This has been largely rejected by people who reject the American foundations and the intentions of the founding fathers. They think that some people ought to sacrifice their pursuit of happiness because their ancestors committed some crimes. Post-modernism is meant to destroy everything it touches, and the Constitution, bill or rights and declaration of indepence is no exception. This doesn't mean that they don't work once people are educated on what they mean, since it is not supposed to be a metaphysical philosophy but rather a political one. The only prerequisite is believing in a higher power, even if it's the Universe.

I agree that the success of the post-modernist philosophies lies in the different kind of epistemology it introduces. In other words, it changes the definition of "truth". This just means it can create whatever bullshit it wants out of thin air, and of course it does so effectively gaslighting the masses with lies. The majority of people obviously don't read too much into philosophical arguments and just go with the opinion of the masses, so when post-modernist theories like critical race theory enters academia, it succeeds in convincing the masses with made up lies, which are justified by more lies at ever turn. From there it spread to the general population. I think the way out is an anti-postmodernist philosophy that counters the bullshit, and grounds everyone in the usual intuitive epistemology that doesn't require a Phd in philosophy.

Interesting points. First observation is that the overall point of the guy in the video is to approach with empathy, yet he's already breaking his own rule by labeling people as "science deniers". Also, he's making false equivalences, science is not truth (I touch on this below), and believing in some conspiracy "theories" does not mean you are on the same level as a flat earther (so we shouldn't lump everyone in the same category here).

I can read any white paper, and could easily learn the hardest possible science from quantum physics to biology, to astronomy. I used to think the way this guy thinks... science is the best, it tells you what is true, and denying it is stupid! But then I realized two things.

First there is no science of metaphysics. Quantum physics is purely math, and theories around the measurement problem are still theories and are not falsifiable, which means we can't test the fabric of reality. Science also doesn't understand consciousness and this could very well be important to the fabric of reality.

Second, science moves forward in ways that invalidates existing theories. In other words, existing science is proven false in favor of new science, which means it is very likely almost eveyrthing we know today is false to some degree. Just imagine living 300 years ago when nobody knew that microscopic organisms existed, yet scientist would probably have the same level of confidence as this guy in the video.

The overall problem with the current "trust the science" movement, is that it's giving authority to act with emergency powers and this is likely to cause catastrophic consequences. Science works best with skepticism and slow consent, not fast, reflexive dogma, yelling at everyone to just obey.

Very interesting. Thanks for compiling that. It is certainly possible with all these things being true. History books contained images and stories of Catholic priests being on those first voyages, and I think there is some evidence of that because this happened multiple times with all Spanish voyages to the new world.

I think the biggest lead would be the funding of the trip, and the books say it was the queen of Spain. So if that's not true, then how did that happen (the queen getting the credit), and why did Columbus declared the territory for Spain? I think the most likely scenario could be that he was a secret Jew and did not reveal that to anyone outside of his family. Catholics priests of the time are notoriously anti-Jew, like St. Agustin, or Aquinas.

I admit I was thinking of overall suffering, however, this is was an interesting coincidence. Changing definitions of words is part of this woke/marxist strategy. What I mean to say is that, interestingly enough, I think "sufferage" was one of these definition changes, dating all the way back to that era. So just because women want the vote, they had to make an equivalence between suffering and not voting? Hmm... quite the political strategy there. I refuse to use that word in that way. I can also use the same strategy and say "sufferage" should mean what it sounds like... the collective suffering of people, but it doesn not include the reason or cause of the suffering.

I feel these two things are not related. First of all why replace Columbus day? Why not a separate day? The reason is it's a political woke agenda trying to constnatly erase and change history and substitute with something about the poor POC and their suffrage. Consider that it is a tactic coming from Marxism to divide and conquer people. Natives could easily be celebrated without needing to erase and change history, but then that wouldn't further the conflict between white Europeans and descendents of Natives.

Personally I think the truth is complicated always, and those were completely different times. Wars were normal and humans in general were desensitized to violence, including Natives, which had tons of wars of their own and practiced bloody rituals of all kinds.

Exactly, he called out the fake media. That drove them mad and they ultimately won. I can't believe most people didn't see it that way though, and basically just believed the narratives being weaponized. Nobody had to like Trump to see what was going on, but it honestly surprised me. Now it's almost like he was never president.
