Do we really want an influx of easily offended power jannies flooding this place?

[–]BISH 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yes. Because the ones who show up are more likely to be open minded.

And for some time it will be annoying.

We've gone through this multiple times before.

[–]TimothyMcFuck 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly. But it'd be fun to punk the shit out of them

[–]ID10T 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking. I found this site because I was sick of censoring myself just so my account wouldn't get cancelled.

[–]passionflounder 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly.

[–]Blackhalo 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Reddit regulars were a bit salty, back when Digg crashed too.

[–]TimothyMcFuck 11 insightful - 3 fun11 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 3 fun -  (18 children)

Well. Being that saidit.net has been mentioned times before on reddit alternative sub and NO ONES talking about it now? Should tell you a lot about what those redditors want.

They don't want the own discussions and I guess freedom you can say, to pretty much say whatever you want. Why? Because, they're going to get called out on their bullshit and punked a lot by other users.

You have to remember that it's not just centris, conservatives and Libertarians that don't want to use it anymore, hardcore leftist don't want to use it anymore. Because of whatever kind of flack they're getting from conservatives on there which I'm assuming is nowhere near the amount of flack that conservatives are pretty much anyone gets from the left when using Reddit when they're expressing their opinions.

Why the fuck would they join a site, where yeah people are pretty much going to be mean to them dude. I'm not saying it like oh poor them no seriously fuck them LOL I don't care, I feel like on the internet you should be able to say whatever the fuck you want.

But to put it simply their pussies and they can't deal with that they need a fucking block button they don't want to hear or see anything they don't agree with or anything they don't like.

Lol it’s been mentioned in every thread I’ve seen about alternatives - warning people not to come here because it’s alt-right-mega-maga-nazi-land lol.

So anyway I figured I’d check it out.

[–]TimothyMcFuck 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Do you like it here so far?

[–]TitsAndWhiskey 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Yeah, you get used to the crazies. Wish there were more people active though.

[–]TimothyMcFuck 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Come to exploding-heads.com dude! We'd be happy to have you

[–]TitsAndWhiskey 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Eh I’m bouncing around other places lately

[–]TimothyMcFuck 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ohhh like where O_O

[–]Site_rly_sux 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

It could also be because saidit is full of hate speech and holocaust denial....which are turn-offs for normal people

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

which are turn-offs for normal people

Because "normal people" have been subjected to corporatocracy propaganda brainwashing them all their lives.

[–]Site_rly_sux 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

Nah, it's because normal people dislike hate speech and holocaust denial.

Because they're antisocial, distasteful and inspired by a hateful mindset which normal people don't have

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

Because they're antisocial, distasteful and inspired by a hateful mindset which normal people don't have

Slanderous nonsense.

If you can see the propaganda, it's not aimed at you.
If you can't see the propaganda, how could you ever know about it without critical thinking, skepticism, and analysis work?

Regurgitating corporatocracy talking points, clearly you don't see it, and you won't ever see it until you're ready and willing to see it.

[–]Site_rly_sux 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Slanderous nonsense.

If you can see the propaganda

Hey dipshit i'm talking about people using hate speech and holocaust denial.

It's not propaganda to detect when someone is using hate speech.

It's.not a corporate taking point - it's a normal human response to dislike hate speech, moron, nothing to do with corporations

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

Hey dipshit [...] moron

Sounds a lot like hate speech.

NOTHING is exempt from being questioned, including The Holocaust™ and COVID1984™.
If you'd bother skeptically looking into them you'd find they are largely exaggerations and myths promoted by the fearmongering globalist corporatocracy.

[–]Site_rly_sux 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I'm explaining why normal people would dislike saidit. And it's not because they think the Holocaust is fake.

Also, moron, having a low IQ isn't a protected characteristic under law, so is isn't hate speech, is it dipshit

[–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

I already know these things.
There are already laws against crimes.
Adding "hate" in front of them are corrupt political tools, like you dipshill.

[–]Site_rly_sux 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Ctrl f "hate crimes"

Huh nobody was talking about it

I don't know why you're finding it so difficult. It boils down to a simple question really.

Do you think that the random displaced redditor wants to, or doesn't want to, see holocaust denial and hate speech.

I don't think they do.

You, instead of answering, have complained about corporations and laws, all for no reason at all.

I don't know why you can't commit to "actually I think the random displaced redditor DOES want to see hate speech on the front page".

Just say it, if that's what you believe. Why beat it around the bush complaining about laws and corporation's?

[–]BISH 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Why the fuck would they join a site, where yeah people are pretty much going to be mean to them dude.

The strong will survive.

[–]Drewski 9 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

I've seen lots of people promoting their reddit alternatives on /r/RedditAlternatives and other related threads on reddit. If someone who still has an account wants to rep Saidit there also it couldn't hurt.

The typical reddit user wants an echo chamber to validate their views. That wont fly here, or at least I hope not.

[–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 5 fun3 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 5 fun -  (1 child)

I validate and repeat your views.

[–]0_0 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I feel so accomplished 😂

[–]BISH 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

They have the opinions because of the echo chamber.

The echo chamber is the chicken and the egg.

[–]bucetao6969 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

They can just create their echo chamber here? There's the pyramid of discussion, it allows for exactly that.

[–]0_0 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No, they can't. Even if they accepted for their subs to be delisted from s/all to be able to ban comments with opposing views they can't stop the creation of subs with opposing opinions like they do in reddit.

[–]bucetao6969 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ohhhh you mean that.

Yeah they don't want free speech BUT for those users that want free speech but also echo chambers saidit is perfect!

[–]Musky 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (7 children)

I think one big simple change would be to change the default view from Subscribed to All. Subscribed looks dead and it's what everyone sees at first.

[–]BISH 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

That's a reasonable suggestion.

[–]JasonCarswell 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

And, unless something's changed, magnora7 hasn't modified the very problematic default subs issue.

[–]Musky 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

As far as I know he has no interest to. It boggles my mind. I imagine it's a really a simple change and would have an immediate effect on helping to retain new users. Posts on the Subscribed front page goes back 21 days ago for me, All only 18 hours.

Oh well, who wants a bunch of redditors anyways.

[–]bucetao6969 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I want a bunch of redditors!

[–]bucetao6969 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Who can change it? The admin the owner? Oh the owner is inactive shit oh well

[–]Musky 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

He was just around yesterday, I don't think he wants to change it. I've been suggesting that one for years now.

[–]bucetao6969 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The best course of action would be the for the owner to transfer his ownership... or make one of the admins a super admin that has owner-like powers

[–]jw329 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

problem is saidit is not making any money. You need to make money in order to hire a team to make changes. Ads is no longer a good way to make money. You can add a subscription feature but no one will pay.

I told people to come to saidit on reddit but it's full of leftists and they don't want to come here because it's full of alt-right people

who cares about the leftists. Don't please them just so they can come here

[–]0_0 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I want the centrists that have to self-censor when they are in reddit.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

There are other ways to make money - with, for, and from SaidIt.

We could set up a community market to sell things like any other web store. Put my SaidIt logo on T-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. or sell custom things folks make, or services, or whatever you like in a flea market scenario. I'm sure we could think of more things than this short list off the top of my head.

[–]bucetao6969 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If we had innovators on the team we could have a solution to this

But with an afk owner nothing we can do

[–]GoblinJ 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

They're so addicted they'll never leave reddit no matter what

[–]Gaslov 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

Does saiddit even have an app?

[–]GoblinJ 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

There's an android APK to download for an app. It's pretty shit tho.

[–]BISH 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

It does.

That sounds like scored.co. That place tries to separate the political subs from the rest to the point you have to actively look for them. The problem with that site is that if it ever becomes popular (apart from the MAGA subs) there's nothing to stop it from becoming just like reddit with all its bullshit.

    [–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

What's the point if the SaidIt community has no autonomy or open crowdsourced self-regulating input into how things are run? magnora7 perpetually keeps SaidIt from blossoming.

We need to branch out, decentralize/distribute, and use SaidIt and other forums as filters to invite those worthy on to the next-level platforms where communities decide how they want things run - from civil discourse to free speech, from topical focus to frivolous fun to free range general interest, from echo chambers to free thinking. Let the communities decide, and let them overlap with who they see fit - rather than have it all arbitrarily decided by some ego who thinks he knows better.

    [–]Zednix 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Is there a good app for Saidit on mobile?

    [–]bucetao6969 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

We already missed the fuckign opportunity, we should have been prepared. People just moved over to Lemmy.

The mods don't care they want this website to stay underground. The owner is inactive doesn't give a shit to the website and should have transfered ownership a long time ago.

    [–]Lefty_Pencil 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

    [–]bucetao6969 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Of course people won't migrate with a post like that. Lemmy got 5 paragraphs for it goddam.

    I can't believe we're lower than 4chan 😂

    [–]csfflame 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The admins need to be contactable. I've sent requests weeks ago, with no response.

    [–]antares 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

My suggestion: have an interesting front page.

I understand some communities have grievances from getting censored and banned. But too much complaining really ruins the atmosphere of the site.
