Hey-- I wasn't sure what you meant, because very few posts are actually locked/removed (you can check this by clicking on the "moderation log" link on the side bar-- ctrl+f to find it easily).

I looked through your post history-- it looks like some of your posts break the sub rules, as they are described in the sidebar. Not that that's a big deal, I've had a few get removed for being too off-topic, too. This sub generally does not allow posts that are not LGB-focused. For example, a post like: "look, they just invented cakepopgender!" with a link to the wiki page for "cakepopgender" would probably be removed/locked. Another one is posts from TumblrInAction-- sometimes they are actually really relevant if, say, they're about conversion therapy or LGB specifically, but if the post does not directly pertain to "dropping the T" or to other LGB issues, then it's likely to get removed.

Does that sorta make sense? I like a lot of your posts, I'm glad you contribute. It might take a little getting used to though, to figure out what is a good fit.

edit: Also I think usually mods write a reason why they remove it but if they did not then I see why you're frustrated.

Thank you very much for saying this - this is exactly the reason.

The most common reason we mods remove posts is breaking rule 2. The quick-and-dirty version of the rule is in our sidebar, but that has character limitations, so the expanded explanation and FAQs for our rules are in our Wiki and linked in the sidebar as well.

2. Appropriate Content: Why LGB and TQ+ should no longer be part of the same organization. LGB news, concerns, history, and/or personal affairs. Other topics must demonstrate applicability towards LGB or "dropping the T".

We also remove for rule 3, which often has crossover with rule 2 ... this part specifically:

3. Off-Topic Posts / Comments: No anti-trans memes/mockery.

Long story short, we're not a sub to document all the bad trans things ... we're a sub to represent LGB people and our needs. It paints LGB in a pretty shitty light to not focus on ourselves, and instead, just snark and rip on trans people and gender identity as a whole. There are a number of subs that let users do just that if they want to, but here isn't the place.

Users should also keep in mind that we're not AGAINST the idea of trans and/or gender identity existing. LGB and trans can and do co-exist, and we've had trans LGB members join us here as well as in the prior Reddit sub. What we're against is LGB organizations being overrun and colonized to the point where our needs are being erased and redefined.

No problem :) thanks for commenting to clarify.

Well, some of us are-- it's just not a requirement. I wonder what the sub breakdown on this is.

Fair point :)

I've made some controversial comments here, but I haven't been silenced so far. What did you post? Or did the mods change their views and became less accepting of differing opinions?

The most discouraging thing about watching you people operate is how you learned absolutely nothing from getting banned from Reddit. Nothing. You think maybe you'd have learned that censorship is bad and silencing people just because they disagree with you is wrong, but no. That didn't happen. It's so sad that people had the opportunity to grow and declined. :(

Lol- Get off your high horse, Saidit Praetorian. A single sub policing itself is not even the real issue with neo-Reddit. The problem is site-level censorship and deplatforming. In the past if you didn't like a sub's rules or had some beef with the moderators then you could always just create a new sub. Problem solved. The way Reddit was meant to be. If the problem there was really bad then people would have the option to flock over to your alternative in droves. That logic has now been broken by the Administrators, who'll ban your alternative sub or replace your mods for any arbitrary reason and call it "Hate Speech". For example, no one would give a hang if they got censored/banned from r/ActualLesbians a long as they could go to a differently named sub for actual lesbians. Thus, r/TrueLesbians was born. And then banned by the Reddit Admin. Gee, I wonder where the true issue lies?

And on the subject of sub policing. Try to make a contentious sub without making rules and enforcing them. It'll go to shit faster than you can say "genital preference", if it even gets going at all. If the mods here suddenly ceased to do that then the lurking TRAs and trolls would eat this place alive like they did with the fallen Guilds on Ruqqus. Are you so naive that you only think in terms of absolutes like 'censoring mod bad' without being able to tell the difference between these two very different levels of policing? Have you ever considered the practical implementation of this ideology of yours? Or did you just come over here to allow your horse to drop a big steaming pile of judgement and ride off into the hinterlands without any elaboration on how exactly you yourself would Build Back Better?

Mods will remove opposing viewpoints

I mean, this is exactly why you got banned from Reddit. I would figure that after an experience like that, humans would figure out that there was something wrong. And correct it. It's what we do, as humans. When confronted with adversity we grow as people and change. This didn't happen, and it's distressing and disappointing. Especially among educated people who should know better.

for any arbitrary reason and call it "Hate Speech".

You're doing the same thing. You really don't see it? :/

[–]reluctant_commenter 13 insightful - 2 fun13 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I mean, this is exactly why you got banned from Reddit.

No. Let's be clear about why s/LGBdroptheT is here and not on Reddit:

  • Each subreddit on Reddit is allowed to practice topic censoring. That's just a fact. (It's also true of Saidit.)

  • Reddit has decided to ban any subreddit that is OK with people saying, "I believe that sexual attraction is determined on the basis of sex and not gender."

  • If someone were banned from s/lgbdropthet for breaking our rules, they could go make their own subsaidit about whatever they wanted to talk about. But if someone were banned on Reddit for saying, "lesbians aren't into dick," then they would not be allowed to create their own subreddit in order to express their views.

You're doing the same thing. You really don't see it? :/

You're making a false equivalency. Because at the end of the day, here's the fact:

Nothing is stopping trans rights activists from joining Saidit and expressing their views in their own subsaidit. LGB people are not allowed to go make their own subreddits on Reddit, yet trans people are allowed to make trans-centered subreddits.

Some spaces are exclusive, and some spaces are topic-censoring. That's pretty common to find in life. Quit dragging down discussion on the Pyramid of Debate, please.

edit: clarity

Wtf did you really gloss over the bulk of what I said and output some unrelated human adversity diatribe like some npc robot? Keep on with your moralizing whataboutism, while totally missing the point. Eat some more code while you're at it. You need your input.

[–]reluctant_commenter 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Yup, they really did. Just a garden variety troll, I guess. I appreciated your response, thanks for speaking up.

Yeah, I don't know where that first one came from. I wrote a response but scrapped it due to sounding too angry. I wrote another and it still sounded angry- but good enough lol

Dude, I respect it, sometimes I restrain myself too much.

[–]reluctant_commenter 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

Take a look at my comment. The rules of this sub are stated clearly-- OP simply had a few posts removed for being off-topic. That's not "silencing people just because they disagree with you."

[–]Chipit 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Mods will remove opposing viewpoints

This is literally the rules of the sub. You're arguing against yourself - and losing.

[–]reluctant_commenter 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I'm not sure if you're lost, but yes, this is a Saidit sub that practices topic-censoring-- however, WITHIN the parameters of those rules, there is a ton of diversity of opinion, and the mods are consistent about the rules they've defined. Like I said, the mods don't "silence anyone just because they disagree," they follow the community rules. (Unlike some other subs where the mods break their own rules.)

If you have an issue with the existence of Saidit subs that have topic-censoring, take it up with Magnora.

[–]Chipit 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

WITHIN the parameters of those rules, there is a ton of diversity of opinion,

"We've got both kinds of music! Country and Western!"

[–]NutterButterFlutterStill waving into the void[M] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

The "opposing viewpoints" this refers to are subjects that TRAs would like to "discuss", but are not appropriate for our sub. For example, here's some of the things we remove:

  • Steve Universe says Trans Rights!
  • TERFs get the wall
  • I'm just wondering, why are you all so fucking stupid?
  • Trans women of color gave you your rights
  • I'm trans and I have a few questions for you

SaidIt IS a debate and free speech site, and technically, all subs can and should allow these kinds of posts along with a multitude of other subjects.

However, Magnora (the main admin and site creator) understands that some subs want to stay focused on their goals and causes, and that means they wouldn't want to debate within that sub. As such, he gives mods an option:

Remove yourself from s/all, and place a clear and precise statement in your sidebar indicating that you're censoring.

Voila.

Now, if you're referring to removals of content you feel is genuine and appropriate for this sub... that's called "nope, sorry, it doesn't fit within our rules and guidelines". I don't go to a Catholicism sub to talk about politics, I don't go to a News sub to promote a new musician, etc. Likewise, there are some things people want to talk about here that aren't LGB-focused, and would be more appropriate for another sub.

[–]Chipit 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Remove yourself from s/all, and place a clear and precise statement in your sidebar indicating that you're censoring.

The whole reason you got kicked out of Reddit in the first place is censorship. It blows my mind that you don't see the problem with censorship. "It's OK when we do it, but not OK when others do it to us." I guess that's the classical liberalism that y'all reject in favor of lived experience and other pre-Enlightenment values.

[–]NutterButterFlutterStill waving into the void[M] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

We got kicked out of Reddit because our rejection of TQ+ ideology is considered "hate speech" and "bad faith claims of discrimination made by the majority".

We won't allow our space to become colonized and overrun with TQ+ propaganda. If you want to call that censorship, be my guest.

[–]Chipit 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So, you got kicked out by someone else's subjective idea.

Now you're implementing your own subjective idea and kicking people out based on that.

How do you not see that you are two sides of the same coin?
