I really want to compile a list of screenshots like this from both TRAs and incels. I’ll edit out the “trans/cis”, and ask people to guess if a TRA or an incel wrote it for each screenshot.

Thank you for compiling this. I do maintain that we need those sources to be located outside of google photos because of the security concerns. But I am far from a tech person so I don't know who created the source and what the best alternatives are.

I didn't see the transparadox resource until recently, and it's great. The contradictions are seemingly endless. I think my gateway transparadox was thinking "is this a freaking medical condition or not?" Like you're saying if people don't get medical intervention in the form of hormone blockers, exogenous hormones, and various surgeries, they will commit suicide, but this isn't a medical issue? And doctors shouldn't be allowed to do anything but affirm, administer drugs, and perform surgery? And then on top of that, still only self-ID is needed? If they need all these procedures or else they'll commit suicide, why is self-ID the standard and not getting those procedures ? Like are these medical interventions necessary or not and, if so, how are they not medical? Yea, anyway, that spirals into so many more paradoxes.

I would like there to be a similar source, which is something to the effect of "false gotchas." Like things they point to as examples for one thing, but are really indicative of something else entirely (and often something distasteful or sinister). This isn't a great example, but in response to the GC argument that transgenderism doesn't challenge gender stereotypes but is premised on gender stereotypes and in effect reinforces them (i.e. if you are female and don't comport with X Y Z stereotypes for women, that means you're not a woman or accepting an individual female's lack of identification with womanhood based on failure to comport with those stereotypes as a valid basis for her to not be considered a woman), and pointing to opportunists who have no intention of "passing" as examples where this is not the case (e.g., the insulting "butch transbian" concept).

Of course, no problem!! I totally agree that Google Photos is not the best way to save and display these. I am also concerned about security issues and anyway, I don't even know who's hosting those links.

Right?! I think that one is actually my favorite, especially for asking pretending-I'm-dumb questions to TRAs. People never have a good answer, lol.

YUP.

Your idea of "false gotchas" is a great one. E.g. "what about intersex people?! The existence of intersex people means that trans people are real!" is probably a good one. Same lines: "There are some people who don't have XX or XY chromosomes, therefore gender is complicated!" when they also say that gender != sex... lol.

Maybe this is something I should message the mods about for input, but I would love a more permanent place to share some of these resources-- links, statistics, etc. We really have a pretty good collection going over the course of the past several months just from posts in this sub, but I keep sharing resources in one-off conversations with individuals. It would be nice if we could have a link to some of these on the sidebar, or something. Do you have any ideas for increasing visibility of these sorts of links and resources?

edit: I could think of categories like:

  • arguments TRAs make ("transparadoxes" and your "false gotchas" list idea)

  • homophobic pro-transgender comments (the 4 links I shared, for example)

  • news articles about transing children / homophobic motivations for transgender medical interventions (links we could easily share with friends and family, like this: https://archive.is/zy6PA)

  • research studies and statistics that illuminate some of the red flags of trans medicalization (e.g. super high rates of autism spectrum disorder, PDs, anxiety disorders, etc. but no screening for them when people show up to get puberty blockers)

We do have a little organization of this stuff already, with tags on posts, but many posts are not tagged and many people don't think to sort by tags, anyway.

Someone with a background in marketing would have a better idea. Actually my best friend is in marketing and she can be rather blasé about misinformation campaigns/Cambridge Analytica type things because she’s like “yea that’s what marketing is.” She’s terven thankfully. She and her bf peaked through me because as I was peaking, I was sharing with her all of the stuff I was learning as I was learning it and developing my thinking. So I should check with her on some of this.

I have also thought that it would be helpful if we had a poll that where we can, anonymously to the extent we need to, enter the fields we work in, so that we can understand where our expertise lies. We all have different strengths we can bring to the table and we are each best suited to put together materials based in our own areas of expertise. I wouldn’t have peaked or learned what sources I could trust/distrust on these issues until I had enough personal knowledge that I could tell who was lying (“Nobody is saying/doing X” when I had experienced countless examples). So scary to have so little scrutiny (or knowing lies) at what are supposed to be the highest levels of journalism.

Sounds good. I might try to find some examples of well-organized resource lists on Reddit subs, that we could model after.

That sounds like a fantastic idea!! I think if we had a poll like that, people would be interested. If we're concerned about anonymity, I know PeakingPeachEater is into cybersecurity, maybe she would have some tips...

Of course, no prob :) if you know of any other ones feel free to let me know!

This makes for some depressing reading, but important that these are collated, because they just want to pee in peace, after all.

This is so fucking disgusting

I want to compile more screenshots too! Let's get some from twitter next. I'll start in a bit. When I find something I'll dm you (≧∀≦)

[–]reluctant_commenter 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Don't know if you saw, but I responded to the same person you did with 4 lists that have been started elsewhere throughout the internet.

BUT, I think it would be useful if we had one that's sourced from s/lgbdropthet, and that's up-to-date!

[–]EverydayIsSad[S] 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I just saw it!!! Thank you so much! I'm saving the photos up, the list you have is huge and is exactly what we need when people ask "so what did the trans people say to gay people that is so homophobic"

[–]reluctant_commenter 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Of course, no problem!! :) I have to be clear, I didn't compile any of these so I can't take credit! I just try to share them whenever I can, so that we can get more awareness out there. I keep meaning to compile a more extensive list of stats and resources like that...

Also-- I hope you don't mind me asking, your username suggests you're feeling bleak, are you doing okay?

[–]EverydayIsSad[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Sorry for the late reply, I fell asleep, and just got back online ಥ_ಥ (◕︿◕✿)

I'm still so thankful you share these in your list with me and others. These are very important, especially when we need to show them to those who know nothing of the homophobia that is so inherent to the gender identity ideology. That can open their eyes!

And you're so kind to ask me how I'm doing, I'm better today than I was a few days ago. Most days I'm too numb to get up from the bed every morning, and the few things that make me happy just don't do the job sometimes. But I'm still trying here and fighting to make myself feel better (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧

What about you? How are you doing?

[–]reluctant_commenter 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Of course, no problem!! And you don't have to apologize haha, I've had people reply to me weeks later. (Shit, I think I actually forgot to respond to someone, I just remembered...)

Most days I'm too numb to get up from the bed every morning, and the few things that make me happy just don't do the job sometimes.

I really feel that... I really feel that, dude. I'm sorry to hear that's how it's been for you. I am also still fighting that fight, but it's felt like quite a struggle recently. Glad you're here and doing your best, I have mad respect for that :) is all the TRA stuff getting you down, or more stuff outside of these topics?

I'm doing okay.. I've really been struggling to enjoy a lot of the hobbies I normally do. At this point, my fallback plan is to just keep taking walks everyday and doing the bare minimum, and try to make it through to next year, lol. I know, super inspiring. Thanks for asking. :)

[–]EverydayIsSad[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

You're really funny and I mean this, you made me laugh when I got to "shit I forgot to respond to someone" and "I know, super inspiring"!! (≧∀≦)

First it was just existence itself that was an issue, it was/is hard for me to deal with but when I saw the number of people supporting trans people and their gender identity ideology increase I started feeling worse. So many gay men and gay women have gotten hurt because of them. Everyday I lost more hope, until now I believe it will get worse, one day no sane human would be left and everyone would be brainwashed ༼☯﹏☯༽ At least we got each other and this place for now. I hope what I think will happen doesn't actually happen though.

I completely feel you. I know it’s been a rough ride. But that you have made it this far is really something brave! Amidst all the bad things that happen in existence, you are continuously making it through. You are getting stronger and stronger each day! You have to give yourself credit for that. We are fighting the same battle so don't worry, we can help each other get through it even more easily. I wish I could give you and everyone here a real hug but because I can't a virtual hug is the least I can do hugs you ⊂(´・ω・`⊂)

[–]reluctant_commenter 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Aw, thanks!! I'm glad you think so :)

First it was just existence itself that was an issue, it was/is hard for me to deal with

Oof. I feel that. No idea what else you've got going on in your life, but I hope you find peace soon.

Everyday I lost more hope, until now I believe it will get worse, one day no sane human would be left and everyone would be brainwashed

Nuh uh, they are NEVER going to get me!

Thank you... that's really kind. I appreciate the virtual hug, right back atcha. :)

That won't be too hard, TRAs always have use 'cis' to describe us, incels will just say women
