Saying N-word instead of nigger. Is extremely racist. It's like when adults spell out words so kids cannot understand what they say. So by using the N-word. You are effectively saying that black people are to stupid to understand what it stands for.

They issue is that they want to leave that "trans" modifier off. They are not pregnant men. Having the ability to get pregnant is the very essence of what makes them not a man. They are pregnant trans men.

[–]ActuallyNot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (18 children)

Most people don't qualify whether they're cis or trans in day to day life.

And that's fine, because it's personal.

[–]Dontcaretoday 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (17 children)

I wouldn't expect anyone to do that in day to day life. It's public conversation where the difference should be acknowledged. Pregnant men are not a thing and it's stupid to act like it is.

[–]ActuallyNot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (16 children)

I wouldn't expect anyone to do that in day to day life. It's public conversation where the difference should be acknowledged.

There's sound reasons why we use the definition of "man" that we do. I do get that you don't like that definition, but surely you understand the argument?

So why do you call it "stupid"?

[–]Dontcaretoday 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (15 children)

It's stupid because men do not have uteruses lol. Most people will call you what you want to be polite, but no one that isn't a gender zealot truly believes otherwise. I think trans people should be free to live their lives in whatever way makes them happy, but it is getting pretty ridiculous when we have to pretend that men as a general demographic can get pregnant.

Redefining the word "man" to make it meaningless in its traditional sense won't magically make people believe that it's any different. Trans men can still live as they please and don't have to tell anyone they are biologically female without changing the word "man" into a description of a feeling instead of a physical state of being.

[–]ActuallyNot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (14 children)

It's stupid because men do not have uteruses lol.

You understand that the difference is your definition of "men" right?

Not whether or not they have "uteruses lol".

Most people will call you what you want to be polite, but no one that isn't a gender zealot truly believes otherwise.

If most of the world is a "gender zealot", maybe it's you. Have you tried not caring if someone presents as a male? It's not obvious why it matters.

Redefining the word "man" to make it meaningless in its traditional sense won't magically make people believe that it's any different.

It's not meaningless. It's just using the label to reflect a slightly different thing. The overlap is 99.5% of adults.

Trans men can still live as they please and don't have to tell anyone they are biologically female without changing the word "man" into a description of a feeling instead of a physical state of being.

Don't worry about it. Being able to call themselves "men" helps with their health and well-being. So we allow that use of the word, because it doesn't matter to anyone else.

[–]Dontcaretoday 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (13 children)

That isn't my personal definition of the word man, it is THE definition.

If you think most of the world thinks that being a man is just a state of mind you are spending way too much time online.

I don't care if someone presents as male. I don't care if they call themselves men.

The line is where we are expected to change our perception of reality to something that is false, like saying men can give birth. They cannot. Trans men can give birth. There is a difference between a man and a trans man and that's ok. Most of the time in real life it doesn't matter and we don't need to acknowledge whether someone is trans or not, but that does not change the fact that only biological females can get pregnant and the rest of the world shouldn't have to pretend men in general can get pregnant just because some people don't like it.

[–]ActuallyNot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (12 children)

That isn't my personal definition of the word man, it is THE definition.

The OED has 80 definitions for "man".

Claiming that there's one that is THE definition is ignorant of how language works.

The line is where we are expected to change our perception of reality to something that is false, like saying men can give birth. They cannot. Trans men can give birth.

"Men" as it is commonly used can include trans men. Don't worry about it.

but that does not change the fact that only biological females can get pregnant

That's not a sensible place to draw your line. Uterus transplants have allowed women to become pregnant. It will be soon (if it hasn't happened) that a trans woman will get pregnant.

the world shouldn't have to pretend men in general can get pregnant

We're not pretending men in general can get pregnant. Only some men.

just because some people don't like it.

Don't worry about it.

[–]Dontcaretoday 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (11 children)

A lot of these responses are just being pedantic.

Yes, there are multiple definitions of the word man. In this conversation the one is question was man vs woman. The man is a male human, woman is female human, some people want to change the word man in this context to include female humans now

The line was not specifically birth in particular, it was physical differences between what makes someone male and what makes someone female. Giving birth is a very obvious one that was used an an example. Males having surgically assisted births with transplanted uteruses does not make them more feminine, if anything it calls out how non female they really are that this is the extreme intervention needed for them to simulate naturally occuring functions of a normal women's body. Also, sterile women do not prove this to be untrue. They are the exception and have a medical disorder.

I don't mind trans people existing and doing their things, but I don't want to follow their religion of faith on why anyone can be a man and anyone can be a woman either. I would be happy to ignore it and not worry about it, but it has been taking over lately and even questioning it gets you banned from speaking. Trying to force people to be pro trans by suppression is just making them more anti trans than if the trans people just adopted a live and let live stance themselves.

[–]Inevitable_Host 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

And how many trans women have gotten pregnant? The answer is precisely 0. Your links prove the opposite of what you seem to think they do; they only make it obvious that all trans men are actually just women in cosplay. If there are any trans men who can't get pregnant, it'll be because they rendered themselves infertile with unnatural hormone treatments (which is quite common, esp. among those who use puberty blockers, the majority wind up sterilizing themselves) - not because they're "really, actually a man". They don't have XY chromosomes and they never will. And vice versa for trans women. Tldr; OP said men can't get pregnant, and you listed 3 cases of women with beards getting pregnant.

[–]ActuallyNot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And how many trans women have gotten pregnant?

I don't know. They would have to have a uterus, and since uterus transplants have not been performed on trans women to date (as far as I know), they would have to be born with it. To be assigned male at birth you'd need a visible penis, so it would be a very rare instance of intersex to have a fertile uterus.

The answer is precisely 0.

Is it? That's interesting.

Your links prove the opposite of what you seem to think they do; they only make it obvious that all trans men are actually just women in cosplay.

Cosplay would be transvestite. It's very different from transsexual.

If there are any trans men who can't get pregnant, it'll be because they rendered themselves infertile with unnatural hormone treatments (which is quite common, esp. among those who use puberty blockers, the majority wind up sterilizing themselves) - not because they're "really, actually a man".

There more reasons for infertility than that.

And it's not up to you to define if someone else is a man.

They don't have XY chromosomes and they never will.

Some of them do.

OP said men can't get pregnant, and you listed 3 cases of women with beards getting pregnant.

Again, it's not up to you to decide who among other people, are men.

Transphobia isn't real

Transphobia consists of negative attitudes, feelings, or actions towards transgender people or transness in general.

it's dumb to think people can change genders.

For instance.

The reality is that trans people exist. Many are happier and healthier if they present as the other gender. There's no rational reason to get upset about that. It doesn't affect you.

[–]UncleWillard56 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Transgender men are just women with no tits. And talk about cognitive dissonance! I have no dick, I cut my tits off, and I'm pregnant - but I'm a MAN!!

[–]ActuallyNot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Transgender men are just women with no tits.

No. If a woman has a double mastectomy that doesn't make her a transgender man

I have no dick, I cut my tits off, and I'm pregnant - but I'm a MAN!!

Presenting as a man, including calling yourself is transitioning. It's not like they don't know they're trans.

[–]UncleWillard56 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Of course a woman with a mastectomy isn't a trans woman, she's a biological woman. And a trans woman is a biological man. Even if he takes hormones or cuts his genitals off, he's a man who altered himself to look like a woman to treat a disorder.

I don't care how you present, if you are pregnant, you are a woman and you have to come to terms with that. Having a mental disorder does not change reality.

It depends how you define "man".

A person who identifies as a man, yes.

A biological male, no.

[–]binaryblob 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It also depends how you define "pregnant". For example, if a man controls an incubation chamber is he then "pregnant"? What about if he gets an organ transplant with working uterus in the year 2200?

If "can" means "right now", then no, but perhaps who knows what insane things people will invent?

What makes you think Men can't get pregnant? That sounds terribly man-phobic to me. Men are awesome and far superior to women in every way. Therefore men clearly can get pregnant much better than women can.

A website not having insane censorship is very obviously a good reason for why it is better. At least, if you care about trivialities like freedom of communication, avoiding propaganda, educationg yourself & others, etc. I'd love to hear why you think insane censorship is actually a boon. Maybe you can take some inspiration and quote Goebbels while you're at it.
