I'm convinced the number of men falls off even more drastically. The data doesn't show it, but that's because women generally don't have to compete like men do, so men get really good at using everything they have while women learn they can rely on men for almost anything.

Toxic female social circles do compete amongst each other, but they generally value traditional gender roles and not intellectual pursuits.

Why do I think this? For one, my intelligence and overall brainpowers was drastically reduced during puberty, whereas women do not seem to experience the same effect. I was a brilliant and happy kid; I am now a depressed whiner who doesn't have the strength to do anything anymore. Every man I know of deals with this, and very few women do. Second, the smartest person in the world is a woman. Third, in pre-civilization times this made sense: the males didn't need a whole lot of brains, they just labored, battled, and had sex. The females were weaker and dealt with children, so they had to be more clever and resourceful.

Of course I may be an outlier. I can't even honestly be called human if we're going by brain structure. But the culprit seems to be hormones, because it only kicks in post-puberty, and other men seem to undergo the same process. The difference being they are somehow able to embrace it.
