It seemsblack nationalist are referred to as black nationalist, but white nationalist are referred to as white supremacists or simply Nazis. Obviously this because is because it is a more impactful terminology, even if used inaccurately.

Either corruption or incompetence. It would take an engineer one day to check whether all feeds are still running and put it on some kind of dashboard. Integrating it such that the subway doesn't even run without a camera feed running would take perhaps a month.

Perhaps someone hacked the cameras, but that would require support from a state-actor. Did anyone important die too?

That's rather vague. Are we talking about the IT-guy that manages the cameras? That guy arguably has the most power in organisations these days. Are we talking about the IT-guy managing the storage systems? Or the "manager" of the platform? The mayor?

Really, it doesn't mean much.

IT-systems can be setup such that data can't be deleted. Since they aren't doing that, they have something to hide and they should all get fired.

In the case of Epstein it seems clear that the prison system isn't designed to protect enemies of people with power, so they just need to design new types of holding facilities for such special prisoners. It's super simple. They could just house such prisoners in Norway with 500 cameras pointed at them from 50 different vendors and data streams managed by 10 different, independent ISPs and 30 different data storage vendors. I just don't think people will "suicide" themselves then... So, have such special facilities already been funded? No? Why not? Is it perhaps because the US likes being corrupt?

Ranked 27/180 on the transparency.org index. 136/180 for Russia in comparison. Norway is ranked 4th. I think all companies without a 100 out of 100 score show what a fucking failure humanity is.

Except in John Kiriakou's testimony of the CIA's use of torture (which he got imprisoned for and his testimony ended up being TRUE), 14 out of 15 low end CIA officers agreed to join the torture program. The only one who refused was Kiriakou.

If it's a government agency or employee position that constantly deals with corruption, they'll tend to hire workers who already have dirt on them or are already compromised. Easier to control.

There is likely a 'woke' political reason why these camera and had their funding and maintenance shunned for years...

CBS:

Auditors reviewed 223 cameras at 10 stations and found that 1,328 of the 4,219 expected maintenance visits were simply not done. That's 31 percent.

Now if we read some more reports, we find in the Financial Outlook for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority 2019{PDF} report and the State Fiscal Year 2018-19 Enacted Budget {PDF} report, we find multiple $50/100M action plan programs, which including modernization and expansions to security and cameras, specifically.

So how could security camera maintenance funding and attention go to the wayside so quickly?

The NYPD were watching these cameras live and using them to clean up the long time problems with crime on the subways. Apparently the crime was mostly coming from the other long time problem of homeless people. Woke elected officials, privacy watchdogs and homeless advocates got super upset. Public outreach programs were started, to ensure these people weren't simply arrested, but provided non-criminal health and social services options. This wasn't enough and the work crowd was still unhappy, especially about the NYPD's use of the security cameras for this.

Funding or focusing too much on these homeless-hate-cameras would probably ensure a budget forming politician or department head would get canceled.

The more likely reason is that the footage of this black man committing a terrorist act is something they'd rather not have to show. Thus, the cameras "malfunctioned".

It's not necessary to complicate things and go out on a limb and make excuses for these people. They're evil.
