Playing the "donated salary" card again? I really thought the spin cycle would've come up with a better excuse by now.

Whatever, I'm sure his followers will buy it.

He donated 100% of his presidential income when he wasn't even a president so actually he paid 100% in taxes because trump doesn't have any income other than his presidential income.

I don't know how people who actually believe this exist, while they at the same time believe trump has billions because he's a good businessman.

Nobody can think for themselves because they base their identity on the party.

Nobody invited me to a party.

Good luck... both parties are now wholely part of the corporate class. Democrats were at one time the party for the people, but no more.

Trump and hundreds of other rich people are avoiding taxes.

Its like everyone forgot about the panama papers.

These people are stealing money from the people.

They are heroes. Every American should do their best to minimize their taxes. It's a waste of money.

"Yes m'lord, of course I will espouse the benefits of feudalism over capitalism on the internet.

Surely you jest m'lord -- what good is freedom if not to serve you?"

Trump could be caught raping a child, which he was accused of doing, which is why he hired Acosta, Epstein's lawyer, and his followers would still follow him.

If he's not done anything illegal no one has to buy anything.

I'd be far more worried about politicians having unexpected income streams than run of the mill tax avoidance.

[–]AcceleratedWallops 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

"run of the mill tax avoidance"...sad how it's so normalized you don't even see it as a problem.

And yeah, I am worried about the unexpected extra income from becoming president that the report confirmed. Quite sus.

Oh, and the massive debts to unknown foreign entities.

[–]jet199 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

It is normalised because it is normal. No one tries to pay more tax than they have to. I personally pay myself mostly in dividends to avoid income tax as does every other business owner.

Trump actually pre paid millions before his accountants took the numbers apart. http://imgur.com/a/ZPJ3r9U

Sure, I guess, but you're in no position to actually fix the tax code.

Guess who is?

And I don't see how "Trump was actually better at avoiding taxes than he initially estimated" makes any difference.

[–]jet199 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

What do you mean by fix the tax code?

The problem with Trump's taxes has nothing to do with the tax code. If he's reporting losses year after year it makes no difference what rate he's on.

[–]thoughtcriminal 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

You would have to be an idiot to not avoid taxes to the best of your ability.

[–]AcceleratedWallops 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Wouldn't it have been, like, really really neat though, if the president chose to actually do something about it at any point during the last four years?

Oh wait he was still taking advantage of the system all this time? Oopsie, guess we'll just not talk about that.

Oh but there was, like, a big tax reform bill or something, right? I think the Republicans were working on it for a while. And maybe this would've been a good opportunity to shift the tax burden off working Americans and clean up the tax code, yeah? But what's that? It shifted more of the burden onto working Americans? You don't say.

Well shucks. It's a good thing we have such a successful businessman running the country.

I really thought the spin cycle would've come up with a better excuse by now.

Sorry that this isn't on the big brained high IQ level excuse of "YOUR PUTINS PUPPET".

[–]AcceleratedWallops 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Putin's cock holster, get it right. Trump doesn't suck Putin's dick every Sunday so that you can liken him to a marionette

[–]ReeferMadness 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

His followers don't need to buy it, they don't give a fuck how much he paid in taxes, as long as it's legal. This entire "spin cycle" is all to bunch up the panties of anti trumpers so they don't start thinking for themselves.

[–]AcceleratedWallops 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Yikes, the feudalist indoctrination runs deep.

[–]ReeferMadness 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Yeah ok. That's why it's the left that has to deplatform and screech whenever the right tries to talk. Totally not a defense mechanism against ideas and truth.

[–]AcceleratedWallops 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Sounds like a fresh plate of

Pr-pr-pr-projection

[–]ReeferMadness 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Sounds like you don't know what projection is.

[–]thoughtcriminal 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The better excuse is that he actually paid 5.2 million in income taxes to the IRS in 2016/2017, which is stated in the original NYT article. He only owed $1500 but he let the IRS keep the extra for carry over losses. Carry over losses from 2008/2009 using a recession tax code that a Democratic House and Senate voted into law under Obama. Fun fact: you don't pay income taxes when you have no income.
