These shows are such money sinks. I assume everyone there is laundering? Why else would they continue to exist??

Apparently they aim solely at the super rich now and actively work to stop ordinary people buying their stuff to make it seem more exclusive.

Chanel recently changed the prices of some of their bags from $3000 to $10,000, as one example of the current marketing strategy.

I have an alternative theory.
Nobody who lives a normal life was happy to spend $3,000 on a bag, so the only bags that sold were selling to the stupid, and the stupid and rich. In order to turn a greater profit, they up the price of the bag phenomenally. Yes, you price out those people who aren't rich, and maybe lose a few stupid rich people, but if that's 30% of your customers, but your price has risen by 3 times, you still make more money.

Rich people need something to spend the money they stole from the poor on ;-) Not everyone can afford to go yachting.

Makes them feel special. Having stuff regular people cannot afford.
