I might get shit on for this but part of the reason so many bantu are in South Africa was because both anglos and boers wanted cheap labor (Boer engaged in this less but still engaged). The Bantu are native to the north east part of the area and only moved south because of mining, agricultural, and domestic jobs. They would have been forced to stay north under the right strict government policies. There's this strong impulse by many many whites to hire non whites and let the white community deal with the consequences. They justify it thinking that giving blacks work will magically turn them into productive members of society willing to work up the pay ladder over generations like whites. If all Europeans living in South Africa would have had a strict 'don't feed the zoo animals' approach from the 1600's onward they would have had a beautiful ethnostate. The colony worked in the first place because south Africa simply didn't have many blacks at all.

In fact if I created a white ethnostate, 'don't import or feed the zoo animals' would be in the founding charter.
