The federal govt will become even more oppressive, a few states will secede later this decade, the US will respond with war, and some foreign nations will aid the seceding states. Once it looks like the US might give up on keeping those states, other states will secede and the US will break up into several nations. It'll all be settled by 2040.

You're being a bit hyperbolic. Nothing catastrophic is going to happen in 10 months. Severe economic crisis perhaps but no mass unrest or sudden 1984

Many are living paycheck to paycheck with very small family networks. A severe economic crisis IS catastrophic.

It would radically change our societies. They could bring in a whole new economic system as the solution and folks would gobble it up.
