Sometimes the PoD feels like a copout to tell on the banter once someone gets insulted. I know that it can end up distracting from real discussion after someones panties get in enough of a wad, but it would be neat if we could express the expletives without all of that and just continue to discuss things.

That's concerning, considering that I just turned in an essay assignment.

The first bit was making fun of the bit between you and socks.

The second was some whining and also saying that the pyramid of debate and rules within it give a loophole to report someone if banter gets out of hand, and one of the debaters is insulted (despite also throwing out insults).

    I did a quick scroll through s/all comments and got the summary. Anyhow, I'm not god mod (or mod of anything) and have zero control over what happens here, so how I assess the situation between the two of you (or between anyone on this site) ultimately makes no difference. I'm just not a fan of watching someone hurl insults and then taking offense at it being done back to them, and later moving to point out each thing that they're insulted by within a stream of comments. That's shitty. I get wanting to defend yourself, but that's not defense, it's just tattling after doing similar shit. I would ground you on the basis that you're tattling.

    WTF? I didn't "tattle" on anyone. Perhaps one portion of the comments you missed is that I was fed-up with constant insults from one of the users, told him to kill himself, and was thereafter reported to mods for telling him to kill himself, and then I was asked to apologize to him, which I did. So many of the posts in this thread have insults - perhaps 95% of them. I don't think I deserve your judgement.

    I've had to identify insults, because I was accused of starting trouble with insults, whereas I merely responded to insults - many of which you can see in this thread of 134 comments. For this reason, I am not "amping up the victim complex shit" when I refer to the insults. These are not emotional references. I did however let send_nasty_stuff know that I am upset about Afghanistan, but not in a way that indicates that I am a victim.

    Normally I respond to insults because I don't want to tolerate bullying. I wouldn't be on Saidit if I couldn't tolerate any bullying, however.
