Selecting a brown "snow white" will draw a lot of attention, which may be what Disney wants, as a massive corporation that's trying to look inclusive, whilst focused only on $ from the wider audience. They won't lose white viewers, or users who are supposedly engaged in the so-called 'war on woke'.

It's pretty smart. The people offended enough to not watch will just promote the movie even more with their outrage.
