True, but how are the social conditions in Israel for Jews? Do they have a large homeless population?

No idea but here's a Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homelessness_in_Israel

This part particularly amused me:

However, a law amendment passed in 2009 protects the rights of mortgage debtors and ensures that they are not evicted after failing to meet mortgage payments. The amendment is part of a wider reform in the law in the wake of a lengthy battle by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel and other human rights groups.

Must be nice to live in a country where the state favours the citizen over the usurer.

Homelessness increased following the wave of Soviet immigration in 1991. As many as 70 percent of homeless people in Tel Aviv are immigrants from the former Soviet Union,

My cynical side guesses this has something to do with Israelis doubting that many Soviet immigrants are 'real Jews' -- much of the whole DNA testing for Jewishness is a result of Soviet immigration to Israel -- and that the reason so many of them are homeless is that they're not considered worthy of state attention but that's an unkind thought.

Well, that certainly did not happen after the 2008 crisis in the US. Persons ripped from their homes for failing to pay because a bunch of parasites screwed up teh economy. I'm sure it will happen again in the US.

But are not Soviet Jews Ashkenazi? They need more and more Jews to emigrate to Israel as a plausible deniability for the settler project.

Exactly. We get the opposite approach in no small part given to the type of Economic policies Jews have played a major part in promoting.

Some undoubtedly are but I think there was a lot of new converts or people just claiming to be Jewish to be eligible to emigrate from the Soviet Union to the US or Israel. Like I said that's where much of the DNA testing comes from in Israel because the state wasn't convinced the people who wanted to migrate were 'real Jews'.
