They didn't prove 2+2 = 5. They basically write the wrong mathematical expression and tell people they are wrong because they added a bunch of context that didn't exist in the equation. The expert math professor problem was not doing addition because he made the assumption that the period between one session to the next is considered an additional break. It is like those mathematical word problems about how many apples can you buy from a store with a certain amount of money. The assumption is you can't buy a fraction of an apple at the store so you must truncate the value of the apples to a whole number. This isn't a problem of math, it is that people that are not able to express real world problems using mathematical expressions either because of lack of ability or for brevity.

In tricking the woke leftists into arguing that 2 + 2 = 5, what he's done is expose their tactics for what they are. This is what they do with everything:

  • 2 + 2 = 5 (if you redefine 2, +, = and 5)
  • We live in a white supremacist system (if you redefine white, supremacist and system)
  • We live under an oppressive patriarchy (if you redefine oppressive and patriarchy)
  • Trans women are women (if you redefine women)
  • White people are privileged (if you redefine white and privileged)
  • Black people can't be racist (if you redefine black and racist)
  • Race doesn't exist (if you redefine race and exist)

The lesson is to stop arguing against them as though they are acting in good faith. They'll literally defend 2 + 2 = 5 if it's politically useful. Instead, organize with people who aren't like this.
