Differing your procedures based on race is textbook bigotry. You deliberately chose an example that isn't particularly intrusive, but it fits the format.

I agree it is “textbook bigotry” as far as you’re defining it. But are you suggesting the store should just accept the theft that would be statistically greater with out that bigotry, and society should just tolerate the increase in prices to offset the merchant’s losses? This LACK of bigotry hasn’t created a negative impact on society in your opinion?

BTW, I didn’t choose this example. Obama did in his Travon Martin speech.

You don't have to discriminate by race to combat shoplifters.

What do you recommend?

Monitor all your customers to make it so none of them can shoplift instead of one specific race.

That costs more money for the merchant that will be passed on to the customers in the form of higher prices creating a negative impact for society.

Remember, the goal of loss prevention is to try to do just that - prevent loss, And you have an identifiable group that is statistically more likely to create loss.

Again, how should the merchant offset that increase in risk to make the theft rate at least equal between the different groups (you like equality, right?), but not create a negative impact on society?

Cons: divide the community, invite internal conflict, damage your public image

Pros: Mostly nothing, but possibly save a quarter cent on the dollar or whatever if the alt right's assumptions turn out to be true.

I’m not following. You mentioned “negative impact.” You’re position is that the solution that has a negative impact on a greater number of people is preferable to the solution that has a negative effect on a smaller number of people?

You’re minimizing the pros. If the pros are minimal then why do so many merchants do it (or at least that’s what black people report)?

And your cons could be described as extortion. “Tolerate our disproportionate theft or else...” These could be true of a child having a tantrum as well.

So again, what’s the solution?

"You’re position is that the solution that has a negative impact on a greater number of people is preferable to the solution that has a negative effect on a smaller number of people?"

No

"You’re minimizing the pros."

Such as what?

"If the pros are minimal then why do so many merchants do it (or at least that’s what black people report)."

If they do, it's because they prioritize their own contempt over the health of their community and finances.

"And your cons could be described as extortion."

I'm not the one who decided that actions have consequences.

No

Yes. Allowing black people to steal hurts more people by raising prices for everyone, including the blacks who don’t steal. Not to mention, it contributes to the third-worldification of society. Not to mention, it creates a lower (unequal) standard for black people. Why do you want people to have lower standards when it comes to black people? Do you think black people are animals?

I’m not the one who decided that actions have consequences.

What actions? Not allowing black people to steal more than others? Why are you anti-equality?
