good reason why i always pirate 99% of everything.

Don't support buying entertainment. Most of the money goes to corporations and the authors, writers, etc are all part of the deep state

Social Justice Warriors fucking up yet more classic stories.

They will rewrite 1984 as well, Ministry of Truth how ironic?

Time for underground authors accessible from the darknet. Pretty fucking sad, because you know every clearnet bookstore will not touch the real thing, especially amazon.

I bought a copy of 1984 from Amazon and let a friend borrow it but she never returned it. Looks like I'll have to buy another copy.

I genuinely don't know why we have to hide normal life from children. It's not good for development. In some cases they're more metal than adults. They also have access to everything online. Sure - restrict anything sexual - but not assumptions about weight, mental health, violence, gender and race.

Parents. Especially new parents, and especially mothers, tend to go through an extreme protectionist phase where they see a need to protect their children from reality, or rather adulthood. Think like never neverland as their ideal for the child's future.

This mindset is quite beneficial for very small children that very much lack their own agency, and ability to make smart decisions or handle danger either physical or mental. But as the child grows it becomes less and less beneficial, unless society steps in at some point to curb this very maternal attitude they will succeed in imposing such things on society as a whole to the detriment of their children's long term social and mental development I will say.

I will blame women for the major share of if but I don't see it so much as a feminist issue but more so an issue of a failure to grow up themselves. Some people, men and women alike simply believe that the negative implications of society or even just the very concept of rudeness, crudeness, anything that makes them feel slightly uncomfortable themselves is so bad it must be removed. It's not a tenable path for any successful society.

Just going with the weight issue. It's totally possible to be far too cruel to someone who is fat, that is true, but it's totally possible to be far to nice to them as well. Being fat is unhealthy for you, but if you are allowed to be totally comfortable with being fat to the point that you just keep on eating like a pig and continue to gain weight, it will kill you. Like it doesn't matter if I'm nice to you or not, it will kill you eventually. Would you prefer to live in a society where we just let you go off and kill yourself like some dumb animal vs at least attempting to get you to live in a more healthy way? Even if that is initially going to be uncomfortable?

Similar attitudes exist around sexual violence and the like. Nobody is going to claim that sexual violence is good, unless they themselves are evil. But you will find the overly sensitive types throwing fits over very basic advice like "don't go outside by yourself after dark" "stick to well lit areas" "avoid anything that draws attention to yourself" "don't go to certain parts of town at night " etc. Advice that might be "especially" for women sure but that doesn't mean it doesn't also apply to men in some way. All designed to keep people safe and avoid situations where they become a victim. But the overly sensitive will cry foul, claim the advice is sexist, and that it's not their fault if they are out at 2 am drunk by themselves in skid row. Yes of course it's the rapists fault for raping you, but you made a series of very stupid decisions that put you into a position of danger. It's not sexist to point out danger and advise that you ignore it.

I think these people are just utterly unable to look at the dangerous world and see it for what it is. They want to stick their head in the sand and pretend they live in some imaginary utopia where the laws of nature don't matter, everyone is nice to them all the time, and bad things don't happen to them ever.

OK - thanks for this

That was rather wordy, but I agree. I would also add, the lack of fathers in the home is what allows mothers to continue treating their children like toddlers well into their teens. This is the primary source of societal problems.

What exactly do you think is being hidden? They are making these changes to push their political ideology. This is not a case of censorship, it is a case of grooming.

a case of grooming.

Not much to groom if the new version of the story lacks anything real.

There is nothing real about anything the left believes. Yet the insanity it causes is real.

Nothing about calling sex a spectrum is real, yet they are mutilating children, destroying women's sports, destroying the integrity of colleges and the medical profession, on top of conditioning children to accept absurdity as reality.

[–]dicknipples 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Excellent list - showing how the 'right' uses extreme examples to gain followers. The left is the only group trying to preserve democracy, social security, healthcare, human rights, the environment, legal representation, separation of church and state, bring back the middle class, reduce extreme income inequality, decent standard of living, etc. etc. Meanwhile the 'right' knuckledraggers are naturally obsessed with penises and vaginas.

None of those accolades beling to the left. The left are a bunch of screamers that use force and power to silence anyone who disagrees with them. Claiming they are preserving democracy is retarded. They are the greatest threat to democracy.

The left are low IQ, easily manipulated followers. They are told that giving total power to the government a la socialism is democracy and they are too stupid to reason out that this is an absurdity. So they participate in the most undemocratic practice of violent attacks on dissenters, becoming the extrajudicial enforcement of tyranny while believing they are fighting for democracy.

Their beliefs aren't real. They are stupid beyond belief and so violently radicalized they can't even have a conversation about it to ever have reality reach them. They are cultists.

You're still mentioning generalities (which can be applied to anything), and there are obvious false assumptions here

If you want to be taken seriously, mention specific facts

Thanks - could indeed be a problem

And for what it's worth - imagine meeting someone who says: "Hello - nice to meet you - I identify as a non-binary, asexual, polyamorous relationship anarchist who is on the autism spectrum"

That could be a Daily Mail writer, who forgot to add schizophrenic...

""""Owners""""

Use of that word in connection with rental of DRM should be an international felony, along with "buy", 'purchase'.

Personal digital storage has never been cheaper. Everything you 'own' should be in an open-source format on a non-cloud device.

(((Owners)))

You don't own ebooks unless you've downloaded them yourself. The ones on your Nook or Kindle can get deleted by the company.

Exactly why I have been stocking up on originals while I can.

Not if you don't have your books stuck in some invasive Amazon nonsense.

You can easily find PDFs of the OG shit for free download. Go get it, and don't pay.

[–]Canbot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And this is why you should never buy digital copies of anything, especially if it has DRM.
