This reality denial is just funny. Russian state media reports that Prigozhin is charged with insurrection, Russian generals release videos addressing Wagner soldiers (on pro-war Russian Telegram channels). How is that bullshit? Where do you get your news from? They will report all this too.

Does anyone even know who this Wagner Group is, aside from Western media propaganda? It seems all they do is controlled opposition and pretend to be on Russia's side, while doing nothing but bash Russia in the media.

Maybe it's common to know who this group is? ....but US uses a one similar trick endlessly, where they pick someone they control, push them out proclaiming them on the other side, then only allow that person to speak for the other team. This way, they fully control the narrative, while appearing to be in a deep struggle with and providing equal negotiations with, the opposition. Then, the US will claim to have finally overcame the struggles of the sock on their left hand, with the sock on their right hand, then do whatever they please, having not once acknowledge the real other side.

It is the whole 2023 Biden versus McCarthy US budget sock puppet struggle.... only played on on a bloody battle field of dead Ukrainians fighting Ukrainians, in efforts to win the propaganda war against anyone with a racial Russia-heritage.

That's a very interesting fake conspiracy theory which you just imagined up. But Wagner have a long storied history in service of the GRU.

Wagner himself is Dmitri Utkin, a special forces member/spetznaz of the GRU, ruzzia's intelligence arm which deals with furthering their military aims. Utkin saw service during the Chechen wars, and then as a group of soldiers-for-hire offered around the world.

From what I understand, Wagner was effectively created by the RU government to do RU's bidding, but brands itself as independent to get around various RU constitutional issues. Prigozin's role is a bit more mysterious and weird. He's not a military commander. He's closer to a CEO, but doesn't actually own Wagner. If that doesn't make a lot of sense, it's because it doesn't make a lot of sense.

It seems all they do is controlled opposition and pretend to be on Russia's side, while doing nothing but bash Russia in the media.

I'm about 50/50 on this. It's really hard to tell if his insane behavior is really insane, or if it's intended to give NATO a false sense of security. (Fake example) "We're out of shells and dying here! Please don't attack us at the coordinates X,Y" Meanwhile, there are 500 artillery systems pointed at those coordinates.

Prigozin has flagrantly lied on numerous occasions, though some of what he says is true or half-truths. To have a more concrete opinion, I'd have to understand the Russian language. Personally, I wouldn't take anything he says seriously. The more interesting question is why is he behaving this way? Personally I don't waste much time on him, because he's a distraction, a non-news story. It's like arguing about what happened in a fictional event, when a nuclear bomb went off next-door.

Previously, I thought Prigozhin was more likely a Psyop, because no country in the world would allow someone to be close to military matters and run their mouth like that. Prighozin has made numerous clearly false statements in the past, along with many likely false statements.

Though actually calling for a march on Moscow is where such a thing is dangerous and unpredictable enough, that no (rational) PsyOp would ever take that kind of risk. Perhaps one might think "this is intended to get Ukraine to push their offensive," but you risk some random Russian soldier/officer/security making an assassination attempt on a Russian official because they believe Prighozin.

I suppose there are a couple times in my life where I've come across people like Prighozin, who initially seem cool, but then get triggered by small things, you try to de-escalate, but nothing ever works, and eventually they just go absolutely bonkers.

Friendly fire incidents do happen in war quite frequently, though it would surprise me if this "incident" didn't occur at all.

The attack thing itself was probably a fake by Prigozhin, but the mutiny attempt seemed to be real. It looks like Prigozhin extracted some concessions from Putin for now, and there's a (temporary?) truce. Putin looked weak though, so people feel this is not the end yet:

After spending some time looking into this, it's either (a) one of the weirdest and most dangerous PsyOps in history where there's no incentive or benefit, or (b) Prigozin is even more insane than my previous wildest expectations.

For example, what happens if someone on the Russian side, believes Prigozin (psyop or not) and decides to take action into their own hands? That could be a really dangerous and unpredictable situation, such as some random soldier or security believes it and decides to shoot a high-level official.

So, it looks like he really has lost his mind. One of the curious things about all of this, is for as much as people criticize Russia for supposedly not having free speech, Prigozin was sure allowed to run his mouth in ways that would get him arrested in nearly every country in the world including the US.
