Consistent with conversion therapy, physicians are telling young gays and lesbians that something is wrong with them, based on a regressive view of what it is to be male or female.

Not quite correct. Physicians might be part of the problem, but they are not (and never were) the core of the problem. For that, you need to look at social media (specifically, Reddit, Twitter, and Tumblr) and the validation engines run by an unholy alliance between the IdPol-obsessed progressive left and the porn-sick fetishists who took advantage of the cover provided by the homo- and bisexual orgs to bring their crap out of the shadows.

And then this choice bit of stupidity from the comments.

The medical profession is the core of the problem. If doctors and therapists didn't prescribe the meds and do the surgery, they wouldn't happen.

Twenty years ago, the medical profession acted as gate-keeper to transsexuals. If you wanted a sex change, you had to go through a long process of proving that

  1. you genuinely were gender dysphoric
  2. no other treatments helped
  3. you weren't doing it just for a fetish
  4. and you understood the side-effects and consequences and could give genuine informed consent.

So only two kinds of people got sex reassignment: genuinely dysphoric people for whom no other treatment worked, and a very small number of really dedicated autogyns capable of fooling the medical profession over many years.

And then two things happened that fucked the system up:

  • the invention of "gender affirming care" by the "Be Kind" woke in the medical profession;
  • and the rest of the medical profession realised that there was Big Buck$ to be made from "transgender" people, and fuck their patients.

Without these two groups, we'd still be talking about a tiny handful of transsexuals who were grateful to be just left alone with people into that sort of thing, instead of confused kids being medically mutilated, homophobic parents pushing their kids to transition for the Likes, and misogynist perverts demanding to be treated as women and insisting that lesbians suck their girl dick.

Seen it plenty of times where you've got some kid who maybe will end up being gay when they grow up acting in a way that isn't typical of their sex, does that mean they will be gay? Well no it doesn't really mean anything which is why everyone would be best off ignoring it, but people are stupid.

But yeah you've got some kid that is acting gay as a tyke they'll probably end up being gay when they are older, and somehow a certain segment of the conservative persuasion is just so fucking retarded when it comes to that they are willing to go along with dumb shit like "oh your kid actually has the wrong soul" rather than just leaving things be and letting the chips fall where they may. It's just a new sort of gay conversion therapy in that case, probably way more effective than electroshock therapy frankly. Like hell I can't think of a better way to keep little jimmy from buggering than fucking making him a eunuch. How did ancient societies deal with gay people again?

Yeah at some point they stopped giving medical advice and giving ideological advice. Also doctors who are not on board end up being brought in by HR departments or licensing boards. One of the things TRAs still complain about is that there are doctors who will tell them to find a gender specialist when they start trying to coerce the doctor into just signing off on whatever wild delusions they have that day. The doctor doesn't want to or perhaps can't legally push back.

think it's 1/3 "self-diagnosis" like when autism was SO fashionable mid-10s, those dang doctors just don't understand that your unique quirkiness needs validation and affirmation; 1/3 the usual "I want to be part of an oppressed group but without any of that pesky oppression" you get from some latte-clutching sophomore at an $80,000/year college screaming blue murder at her professors or some bored security guard; and 1/3 "cotton ceiling" (it means panties) narcs and cumbrains realizing they just have to grow their hair out and call themselves Jennifer and nobody can criticize them for breaking a window because someone wouldn't suck their dick

The modern system doesn't allow for any gate-keeping. If you went to a gender therapist and said "I lost a bet, so now I have to transition. How soon can you cut my dick off?" the chances are at least 50:50 they'll answer "we can book you in for gender reassignment surgery next month".

Okay, maybe I exaggerate a tad. But the point is, actual dysphorics don't get gatekept out. The problem for society, well, one of the problems for society, is the number of non- dysphorics who have (often irreversible) medical harms done to them in the name of ending gatekeeping.

I acknowledge your points about self-diagnosis etc but I still say that without the collaboration of the medical profession the worst these people could do is dye their hair blue and embarrass themselves on Instagram and TikTok.

By the way, autism as a self-diagnosis has not fallen out of fashion, it's going stronger than every. Google for "Actually Autistic".

It shouldn't be an opinion piece, it is fact. The only studies following gender nonconforming kids into adulthood showed this, in both Scandinavia and at Tavistock.
