So, BLM is now officially a religion? Facts not welcome, faith only?

Well, I mean, they (the leaders) are almost dead identical to those prosperity gospel hucksters, in how they preach that giving to the cause will elevate the chosen followers in turn. And how all of that endless wealth for the faithful is coming any day now, just have to stay the course. And how only the leaders ever actually seem to get any benefits.

How dare you!? Their purchase of multi-million dollar homes for themselves will bring George Floyd back to life any second now!... and he can return to his life of holding guns to the stomach of pregnant women.

In 400 years will Saint Floyd join the pantheon of Catholic dieties?

No because believe it or not the Church doesn’t generally admit non-Catholics, people of low virtue and people who threaten unborn babies are held in particular contempt.

The rules for gaining Sainthood are quite interesting and there’s zero chance the Church would canonise Floyd. Even with the most liberal Pope, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints is super conservative and set up to reject almost everyone.

Oh and Catholics have only one deity, Saints are not gods nor are they worshipped.

I won't tell Catholics how to interpret their own religion. All I'll say is if ET comes down and sees the statues of the saints and the people making prayers in their name they'd be justified in assuming that they are part of a Catholic pantheon.

It isn't much different than the Buddhist bodishatvas as far as I can tell. Individuals who have achieved "enlightenment" but have forgon moving into nirvana or whatever the Buddhists believe they do and stick around to help mortals achieve enlightenment themselves. Of course anyone who doesn't know anything about Buddhism won't be able to tell the difference between them and a diety, in fact many local dieties were syncrated into Buddhism as bodishatvas as well.

Christ pictured on the cross.
Floyd pictured under a knee.
Kneel before Christ out of respect... But before Floyd?

No because it has a Darth Vader grotesque /s

In all seriousness, it isn’t because the US does not have “separation of church and state,” that is a French concept that socialists have tried to impose on America. In reality, the Constitution is disestablishmentarian. It prohibits the state from creating a state Church or financing any one denomination with public money.

I appreciate several people taking my joke very seriously and offering answers with a straight face, but can we go back to the Darth Vader grotesque/gargoyle? They have what now??

Kinda chinsy imo. Not very serious or proper for a “cathedral,” but it’s Episcopalians, they aren’t very serious about religion either.

Ohhh, wait! This place also has the Xenomorph head as a grotesque, right?

I hadn’t heard of that, but a search suggests the Xenomorph is in Paisley, Scotland

Isn't a national cathedral a gross violation of the 1st amendment?

Saw that today. It’s a really ugly stained glass design too - have to laugh at the stained glass sneakers and jeans though.

We’ve basically reorganized our entire society around black people and their issues, so it makes sense.

Of course, the people who made the decision to replace the windows would shit their pants if someone like George Floyd moved in next door to them…

Content side, the new panes are just low effort and uninspired, artistically speaking.

Also, what's the big sign saying "NOT" mean?
