It’s a poorly designed study, but that is intentional because if they did a properly controlled study they know that adolescents gender dysphoria resolve spontaneously in roughly 75-90% of cases. The worst possible result for them would be one that demonstrates that medical intervention is the worst possible choice.

When this fad moves on, future historians of medicine and medical ethics researchers will wonder what the fuck everyone was thinking.

Have you sat in on a medical ethics class? It’s a harrowing experience. They are among the most brain dead people I’ve ever heard speak. They are pure ideology.

The issue is that if you actually believe that transitioning cures suicide then doing a control group would be immoral. If you don't actually believe that and you do the control group then it invalidates the original premise so you wouldn't be able to do the study in the first place.

I think what he meant was that if you think that transing is bullshit, but you want it to through because of money and power, you absolutely can't have a control group that proves that transing is bullshit.

If you do not believe that transing cures suicide then the control group is moral. The original premise was that giving children and adults experimental drugs and procedures is justified because it saves their life so you can not do a control group. If you do the control group it means the original premise was bullshit.

It does work that way because you aren't supposed to do human experimentation...

What happens sometimes is you randomize the groups and give a placebo but if it's proving that the drug saves a the life of the patients then you swap all of them onto the drug. You also tell the people ahead of time that they would randomly be in group A or B but then they all get access to the drug at the end.

Well obviously it's a bit hard to do placebo surgery or hormone treatment, but that's not the only kind of medical study. For instance you can do one where one group gets the traditional treatment (presumably talk therapy in this case) while the other gets the experimental treatment.

oh, they have an easy out for that--"it's all the social transphobic pressure, don't you see?" they claim the same for detransitioners (I mean, the very name says trans is a process, there's gonna be some reversals)

the radfems did the same thing with patriarchyTM: if a woman gets attacked of course that's misogyny; and if a woman gets a lighter sentence for the same crime that's the judge treating her as a lesser being and thus patriarchy; and if a man has it bad it's only because patriarchy puts such restrictive expectations on them like being the breadwinner and not crying in public (because only men are capable of enforcing social norms)

now these all SOUND nice and plausible ... because they're only ever presented in isolation: bring them together like I did and the whole "ideology" mysteriously turns out to be an exercise in self-justification for whichever group

Yeah, it’s remarkable that all these influential theories, on which so much policy and legislation is based, are completely unfalsifiable (by design), reliant on assumptions and assertions and personal revelation lived experience cannot be challenged.

tbf EVERY schismatic little particular interest group has that infinite flexibility operating at the core (like, even unfalsifiable stuff can be analyzed in terms of self-constitency): it's just that there's way more Women's and African American Studies departments around (heck, they can write some interesting articles)

All this shit was predicted by the psychologist who coined "behavioral sink". When everything is provided and there is nothing to strive for. Mothers stop caring for their children and mammals become sexual deviants. Our society has gotten to easy to survive in and the whole trannyfag explosion is because of it. Notice how none of the trannyfags do anything physically dangerous outside of risky sex. Send them to war in the name of equality ;-)

Basically every study on this issue that gets touted around by trannies and their propagandists is flawed, actually fake, or otherwise misleading/invalid. Of course they always use the tired line about how "the filthy peasants are TRANSPHOBIC so we HAVE to push this obviously fake propaganda!"

Of course this is the same as everything else in the medical industry: the truth doesn't matter if it's unprofitable. So what if treating depression with drugs that make you depressed (and addicted) is self-evidently retarded and ineffective, it practically prints money, therefore "the science" makes it so.
