The shadow people are creepy, and if you don't pretend to not see them, more show up. It's not just meth users either, people have been seeing them as long as there's been recorded history and probably before that too.

It starts with shadows and can become much more strange. Depending on the stimulant, or the combination of substances, they have the potential to become full blown visible ghost like forms with distinguishable features, or indeed reminiscent of the refrigerator scene of Requiem for a Dream. Sleep deprivation and bombardment of the adrenaline, dopamine and serotonin receptors are a recipe for bizarre experiences. Interesting that there is such a long history of these reports, maybe it's more than just a visual disturbance, could be the subconscious trying to stay awake in a similar way to how we yawn when we are getting tired.

Or there really are shadow people we don't see unless we tune our minds a certain way. People on DMT see elfin deities. Why do people keep seeing these same things with similar experiences if there isn't something to it.

Very true! There are repeat stories of entities or spiritual presence witnessed on various drugs such as DMT. On mushrooms it's like seeing the spirit of nature itself, bringing personifications to all living things. One I heard of is a female figure luring a person to a certain direction when experiencing the delerium of Datura. A common one I'm more familiar with myself are the introspective effects of closed eye visuals such as a figure with multiple faces and eyes alongside an avatar of some kind when on 2C's, I like to think this is the visual representation of our inner psyche. Maybe these things open a gateway to see things we are biologically programmed to ignore.

Or maybe brainwashed into not seeing. Ever wonder what a small child's "imaginary" friends are? They get told they're not real often enough by people with sufficient authority, while their minds are so easily imprinted that it could readily constitute a form of very effective brainwashing.

Nah, they're a product of the brain becoming exhausted from no sleep.

I saw "them" once, the longest time I ever stayed up, about 38-40 hours. And even then, there wasn't this huge mythology about them. It was just things in my peripheral vision looking like they were jumping out. I went to sleep.

I did a lot of crank back in the early nineties before this crappy meth stuff came about. Stayed up for day regularly. Did nine days once. Yeah, you see shit alright.

Drugs are fucking awesome. When done therapeutically and with control and with a purpose, they are amazing.

Of course meth isn't one of those drugs. Hahaha

There's lots of drugs that should be legal as long as people are well informed of the side effects. Meth is just disgusting though. It's one of the worst possible drugs, barring retarded ones like krokodil.

Weird, meth always made me an even better me.

"Psychotic symptoms and syndromes are frequently experienced among individuals who use methamphetamine, with recent estimates of up to approximately 40% of users affected."

In my experience, usually when people come down from the high and decide they need a 'recharge', then end up awake for days without sleeping. Everything in moderation kids

Pro-tip: If you really want amphetamines, psychiatrists hand this stuff out like candy, they'll even give to your 7 year old. Its way cleaner than street meth, and your insurance will help pay for it!

I like to call it "baby meth".

In his book On the Move: a Life Dr. Oliver Sacks writes about a few years when he was fascinated with motorcycles and meth. Not a recommendation for meth, just the book.
