Seriously. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome type 3 is so commonly faked because it's considered rare.

I have a friend who actually has EDS and was diagnosed by a doctor over a decade ago after testing and examination. One of her complaints was that it was hard to find other people with her condition because it was so rare. Fast forward to 2022 and every attention seeker suddenly has it and it’s an excuse not to work. (For the record, said friend has never had a problem holding a job.)

Yeah, I was diagnosed with it as a few years before it exploded in popularity. You're right, though, type 3 is no excuse to not work. Some of the other types which are even rarer are pretty brutal, though.

Yeah, the faking is annoying. I generally avoid people who have it in their social media bios and online support groups. I've come to hate terms like "EDS warrior" and "zebra" for the same reason.
