I guess don't go then lol...

If you are "out" at work and HR notices that the gay person doesn't show up to their woke session they might give it a rest or even ask you later.

Sorry to hear your workplace is doing that, that sounds stressful.

Not sure if you are looking for advice or not, but if you are, a few thoughts...

  • If you think your workplace might be one of the ones that tracks people who don't go and then uses that information against them in the future-- then it might be worth going to protect your job. I'm not sure how common this is across countries, but there were multiple cases of this happening in the UK (Nolan Investigation described some of this, I believe).

  • If you do go, then it might help you identify who to watch out for and avoid at your workplace.

But, sometimes the stress just isn't worth it. Hope you have some people in your life that you feel safe venting to.

I shouldn’t have put help in my title it implied I wanted advice. I’m rarely post new topics, just comment on others.

Just wanted a generalised view and what people think. It came across as building a army of allies. Thank you for your response and advice :)

Another bonus for later: If you go that will be remembered as you trying to be supportive. Which might help you peak someone later, since in their minds, you'd have been starting from the same place they did when they started questioning WTF is going on.

Ah, now that's REALLY a good idea! I might steal that one as well.

Yeah, common ground! Might as well try it. It's true, anyway, even if we peaked considerably sooner.

No problem! Good luck, whatever you decide :)

I agree with both of r_c's thoughts about why to go, but I would suggest using the latter as your mindset—consider it recon. You'll probably thank yourself later.

As hard as it is, it might be best to go. They might keep a list of who doesn't go, then use it against them in future.

I wouldn't go, if they use it against me so be it. I'm at my job to make money, not to take part in politics of any kind. And I'd have a hard time remaining "professional" and controlling my facial expression while hearing them spout bullshit

If you are gay you can go and say you're a professional homosexual with X amount of years researching the topic and then accuse them of spreading inaccurate info.
