Meanwhile the recent series about Chucky has the killing doll virtue signaling about having a genderfluid kid. :/

If it's Glen/Glenda, that was a character introduced in Seed of Chucky, which came out a good 13 odd years ago, if not more. It was a nod to the Ed Wood movie Glen or Glenda. At the time, it wasn't virtue signalling, I think it was a split personality thing more than anything.

Yeah, I don't remember this being a queer thing. Been a while since I saw Seed of Chucky, but I had the impression that it was supposed to be creepy, gross, and funny.

So they perceived the clown to be homophobic but can't bring themselves to utter the real bigotry and have to call it "antiqueer"

I like how they somehow come around to blaming the clown's homophobia on... Trump. I feel like this is the end result of pushing profoundly stupid people through college. They gain a lexicon of terminology to describe chaotic and fictional worlds they believe are real.

I love the premise that the evil clown demon was somehow presumed to be gay, and it's disappointing that the evil clown demon is not gay.

Why would an evil clown demon who feasts on nightmares be so homophobic? The mind boggles. Trump did this.

I don't know if I said this but if they did blame pennywise killing the gay couple on Trump it would be right on brand for both original author(Stephen King) and script writers. The only person I've seen with worst tds is my mother and I still feel loathe calling her that.

Does nobody realise that plotline is straight from the book, which had come out almost 30 years prior to this movie.

Pennywise? The space alien man eating shapeshifting monster that lures children to their death and hypnotises people to become sociopathic murderers?

The killer clown isn’t the ally we thought he was.

Please excuse me while I yeet myself off a bridge so I can be murdered by a clown. At no point should any sentence constructed by humans contain any indication that you at any point in time believe a murderous clown to have been on your side of any argument.

I think I just lost brain cells. How dare a human eating monster be "anti queer"! That's literal violence!

So, a character that is clearly "the bad guy" of two moves does bad things... and it's something to be angry about? It's horrible that an evil character knows how to get under the good characters skin by picking on their insecurity?

Right? We are apparently expected to identify with the monsters in monster movies?

My idea of a horror classic would be small sacrifices with Farrah Fawcett

I was obsessed with this movie as a child. I wanted to rename myself Shauna, the name of the daughter who died. I wonder what that says about my relationship with/perception of my mother back then... 😬

Old, but gold. Let's revisit a classic for Halloween weekend 🎃

I loved this because it showed that so few people read the book (where the FIRST SCENE is IT killing the gay guy)

Thank you! Also how come nobody calls the clown racist while they're at it, especially if you consider what happened at the Black Spot in the book. But goodness, it wouldn't do to read a 900 page book because then they would have to read the...gosh, sewer scene.

It just shows how psychotic social justice is: “Scare me, but certain things are off limits!” Wtf? The clown is the immortal, undying embodiment of evil, god forbid he actually do something evil!
