Checked out some of the goodreads reviews, this bit stuck out to me:

Dani's identity as a transman, dealing with that, and figuring out how to tell Sarah. But to me it really seemed that a major part of Dani being trans in the story is so we could see Sarah cast as the villain to be both a "man hating lesbian" and expose terf talking points. And the book pretty clearly tells you both of those points are wrong and gross, there isn't ambiguity there. And those are important things to say! But a lot of Sarah's storyline is about how some close bonds change into toxic relationships. Dani's being trans arc felt to me like more of a way to discuss other narratives through Sarah than to explicitly tell a trans based story.

So, I'm supposed to root for a lesbian who was murdered by a man (presumably in some corrective rape type of scenario) being portrayed as a villian for being wary of men IN DEATH because it "invalidates" Dani's gender feelings?! That's already too much but then the trans person whines that the story about a ghost lesbian's trauma didn't center enough around the trans character's delusions?!

"What about meeeeeeeeeee!?" is all I hear when TRAs say anything.

Hufflepuff, why do you have to tell me these things? I was just thinking this was an absurd plot line but now I might have to hate read it. 😂

I know a single study doesn't necessarily "prove" anything, but that one study that found that people with Gender Dysphoria have high comorbidity with NPD seems to get validated by TRAs fucking constantly.

Dani's being trans arc felt to me like more of a way to discuss other narratives through Sarah than to explicitly tell a trans based story.

So the main intention of the author was to use the novel as basicly an extended lecture... eh, good to know!

As we all know, the best stories are written like this! /s

“✨/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The least amount of stars possible.

I pity the trees that were used in the making of this book. Trash. More in depth review to come.”
