If any organization didn't deserve charity status it's Mermaids. Their entire mission is harming children.

Why does it fucking matter if the LGB Alliance isn't helping advance trans people in any way? They're allowed to have whatever mission they want and to still be a charity; it's not all about trans people all of the time. This is like screeching that the ASPCA isn't doing enough to advance BLM. They're completely separate things! It's not all about you!

We’re not allowed to have our own groups, our own spaces, but guess what? We’re gonna have them anyway, charity status or not.

Tbh, I’m just waiting for trans groups to start attacking innocuous charities like food banks or funds to keep music education in schools because they don’t cater to trans people. TRAs really don’t seem to get that not everything is about them and that this sort of behavior only wants to make people separate more.

They already did that when Super Straights tried to donate to a women's rape shelter

Charity status is a wierd thing. It's a bit like a tax break, and is similar to government funding. What helps you get charity status? Friends in government? IMO everying should have "charity status" or nothing should.

Further article from The Times on this. Seems to have been reported on widely today. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/2db3626e-c3b1-11eb-8601-6a2ece3e4634?shareToken=d7d4fc16d949353cafd4cdbef3fa5b8b

My legal eagle friend says they've got very little chance of even getting the case heard because it's bogus. Also, Stonewall have since dropped their support for the case. Another day, another clown car!

It's a shame that only the Daily Mail would actually include a section on what a vile person Green is and lengths she went to to trans her son.

Sky News is a prominent tv news channel in the UK. This is a major mainstream source.

They mention that Allison Bailey is a “lesbian barrister.”

Can they specify each time they mention Susie Green and Mermaids that she is a straight woman and that it is an org run by a straight woman? I can’t wait til they start scrutinizing her Ted Talk and call out that she is married to a man that she admits is homophobic?

Finally we are left with Gendered Intelligence UK. They are more mysterious. I can’t even find out who is leading them even after reviewing their website. But they describe themselves as “trans-led.”

I’d be more than fine with articles saying straight, and trans-led to describe these orgs and their leadership. It proves the exact point LGB Alliance is trying to make. They should call that out now that they’re getting mainstream press.
