I'm not sure if this should really be a surprise. One interpretation of the trans phenomenon is that it's an attack on LGB, especially LGB children. Just 10 years ago LGB children were fighting for acceptance and the right to not be bullied. For a brief time it looked like that battle was won. Now LGB children are facing a bigger threat: lifelong medicalization.

This is so damn scary to think about it. It's literal conversion therapy like the one they do in Iran. Literally, this gender ideology is a serious way to reduce homosexual number by making them live the the opposite sex.

It's so incredibly sinister and calculating how the gender lobby used LGB - they are sterilizing gay kids and making them into lifelong and very expensive medical experiments under the banner of "lgbTQ+" rights.

And people who claim to be "progressive" are nodding along because they think they are supporting gay rights.

That's very true; I've wondered if more conservatives might start popping up who are in favor of "trans the gay away" like that one fundamentalist preacher, Pat Robertson.

American religious conservatives wanting to trans away the gay have been a thing for quite awhile. I read an article about gay kids being transed by their very conservative Christian parents maybe five (?) years ago.

Would love to see if you have a link. I'm trying to collect a list of these examples to show people IRL, I think that will go a long way towards changing minds.

I don't, and I'm trying to remember the publication.

Just did a search: these aren't the article I read but maybe they will help:

Austen Hartke is the author of "Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians" (Westminster John Knox Press, 2018)

Trans Christian Resources — www.AustenHartke.com austenhartke.com/trans-faith-resources/

And then she was connected to a secret Facebook group of over 1,000 moms like her ― Christians who are raising transgender children. The women call themselves "mama bears" and refer to each other as a "tribe," because so many of them lose their family and friends when they decide to accept their children. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/kimberly-and-kai-shappley-transgender-child-bathroom-rights_n_58b5b5b6e4b060480e0c4393

He said he didn’t think these bills were anti-transgender or gay

Ah, yes. Refusing to allow a dude to compete against girls in sports is so anti-gay. /s

On the real, the trans community needs to stop hiding behind our skirt and fight their own battles. I’m not here to be a shield for this bullshit.

Weak. He should have signed that bill.

Right? So much for Republicans standing up to transgender ideology. I'm tired of the left pushing this BS but at least in the US, the right has done nothing to stop it. Hopefully others will care enough to act beyond their own personal interests.

The problem with Republicans in America is that they are corporate bootlickers and are susceptible to bribery. All they care about is the GDP. Which is why a lot of actual conservatives and right wing people in America have disowned the party.

Here's the Arkansas governor, Asa Hutchinson, showing what a craven coward he is, bowing before Big Gender:

Was silly of any of us to assume those on the right aren’t dependent on big pharma lobby dollars just as much as the left.

I’m inclined to believe that political party politics is just theatre at this point.

We can't count on all conservatives to oppose this stuff because some would truly like to "trans the gay away" and turn gender non-conforming, possibly gay kids into gender conforming trans kids.

I think the bigger picture - that "progressive" parties around the world are trying to amend the legal definition of "sex" to include "gender identity" does scare conservatives, especially in the US. They have no desire to blur the lines between the sexes, and I also think that conservatives are starting to become aware that there's something way more sinister going on with the gender movement than just "civil rights" for people who claim to be not the sex they are, and it scares conservatives, as it should scare all of us.
