Contrapoints is an AGP denier... he even made a video that was ostensibly about AGP and avoided a refutation of it, and instead spent a substantial portion of it praising the "mouthfeel" of girldick and encouraging people not attracted to men (i.e. not attracted to male humans) to try it.

I agree with the first half of your assessment. I have watched 3-4 Contrapoints videos myself and decided to stop watching him because he pushes conversion therapy rhetoric and it was making me feel sick. I can only stomach so much of that in the name of "intellectual curiosity". He masquerades as open-minded but if you listen carefully you'll notice that he only explores nuance when it benefits his positions, and brushes over it when it would undermine his argument.

There are other points they make that I take note of, like in how they often have to explain that transactivists make X argument when they really mean Y. It feels like they are making excuses for the community at times, as if a transactivist couldn't possibly supply a poor argument.

Agreed.

edit: a word

Ewwwww. "Mouthfeel" shouldn't be used for anything but food IMO 🤢

Thanks for the summary. I'm aware of Contrapoints but haven't watched the videos. I have enough problems with fuckin' Jessie Gender popping up on my YouTube feed. I believe Contrapoints is on the 'JK Rowling is a terf' side of the fence, which is my litmus test of whether a trans person is sufficiently rational or not.

Contrapoints seems to be all style and no substance. He's pretty disingenuous with much of what he says and makes a lot of nonsensical or illogical points IMO. Granted, I've only seen a couple of his videos, but that's just the impression I got.

Contrapoints is very deep in the ideology. If you're looking for a "reasonable" transsexual, I'd recommend Blaire White. His takes on trans ideology are great, but he's in deep denial when it comes to actual transsexualism (as are all transsexuals), and he's an antifeminist, which, to be fair, is the only POV transsexualism makes sense from. Contrapoints doesn't even pretend that his claims have any sort of basis. Very little effort, in my opinion. He spends too much time doing his makeup and not enough time thinking about his own logic, then he just spends the entire video whining. Completely insufferable.

That's an accurate short summary of transsexualism. Sexist by design. (And homophobic by design.)

Contrapoints is the transwoman version of Milo Yonoupolos.

I basically treat him as a troll and nothing more.

Contrapoints is very extremely calculated to come off as vulnerable and honest, revealing deep dark secrets, but in reality, every piece of information he shares is curated, strategic and precise. You can really see it in the Cringe video. He knows being transgender is bullshit, but he is extremely clever. He wants to present transgenderism as something that should be accepted. He's basically grooming the viewer by letting them in, sharing the secrets, getting them to sympathize and empathize. Watch, learn, but be wary.

Would you have any videos to recommend? If possible, it'd be nice to see one video that you find more reasonable, one that you find least reasonable, and one that you think exemplifies this situation of purposefully ignoring vocal parts of the community.

I'd recommend his video on autogynephilia so you can get an honest impression of him... he decides not to refute any of the research on the topic, glossing over it so that he can instead talk about the "mouthfeel" of "girldick".

I'm all in favor of exploring other viewpoints but if you are looking for reasonable views from a trans person, the closest I can think of would be Blaire White. Contrapoints has a video about cancel culture that I found interesting, but given his pattern of glossing over details that he finds inconvenient, I kind of wonder if he only felt compelled to make the cancel culture video because he was "cancelled"...

Yeah if you're looking for the best reasoning that tends to come from either Blaire White or Rose of Dawn. I agree with both of them on plenty and disagree on plenty too, but they tend to be the most reasonable

Yep I agree Blaire White at least somewhat respectable with the TRA related stuff.

Won't common on the other stuff though.
