That statement is so bizarre to me, because it sounds like it's written from the POV of a person who has never been attracted to another human being. Even if you are bisexual or "pansexual", what exactly does this person think attraction is, and what are we attracted to? I can't think of anyone who seriously thinks "ah yeah, I am SO turned on by the arbitrary non-physical intangible 'identity' you made up for yourself".

It's also a metaphorical slap in the face to those of us who are attracted to the same sex, but not the gender roles associated with that sex. I'm attracted to dicks but I'm not at all into masculinity, what does that make me? Am I "straight" because the guys I would ideally like would be feminine? What the hell.

Don't usually agree, but you hit the nail on the head. They write like asexual aliens trying to understand human sexuality...

Many of these kids are too young to have even had sex. They're literally crowdsourcing their sexuality to the internet.

They're literally crowdsourcing their sexuality to the internet.

Exactly: they go to the internet and ask in posts, "Am I asexual? Am I bisexual? Am I lesbian? Am I queer? Am I valid?" When really, there is no way people on the internet will be able to tell, all they have is what you've given them. They are, indeed, literally crowdsourcing their self-described sexual orientations.

Shockingly, they're never not 'queer' :-)

This so much!

Tumblr is a cesspool of teens trying to figure themselves out. Which in and of itself isn't necessarily bad! Teens trying to figure out their identity (in the normal self-concept sense of the word) and sexuality is a normal developmental milestone.

But when you give them all this weird ideological stuff to work with, and insist that it's serious business and should be respected, you get weird shit.

A penis fetishist obviously

This has the potential to be your most popular comment.

I whole-heartedly agree.
