I see exchanges like that a lot online and it's so strange to me. These people really think being critical of gender and aware of the reality of sex-based oppression is on the level of being a racist, so when they publicly shittalk "terfs", everyone can see how tolerant and inclusive they are. Except a terf has never hurt anyone, we do not condone violence and are not a danger to human rights. But sure, saying "I was born a woman and you were not" is the most horrible and hateful thing anyone has ever done to another person.

In an interview from a detrans woman I saw, she described it perfectly, and that is that their entire identity is based on ideology and rests on a house of cards. Nowadays having to transition isn't even a prerequisite for identifying as trans. So when you point out a reality and the flaws in their logic (including TWAW but women are somehow 'uterus havers, birth givers' etc) or "I was born a woman and you were not" you are effectively destroying their entire "identity", because it's so paper thin and riddled with illogic to begin with.

It's just a bunch of low self esteem people who spend too much time on the internet, dissociated from reality, have mental issues and watching too much porn and who've decided they have nothing authentic to offer the world, so hey! Let's be trans. Let's be 'enby'. Also misogyny, sexism etc.

And the lobbyists are pushing the agenda because there is a shit ton of money to be made from these types of procedures.

To the people at the top it's literally only about the money. The damage to society, the erasure of women, and everything else, it's just a casualty, which, in a few tens of years they will say 'sorry, we were wrong. We should have known better'. By then, we're on to the next tragedy.

It's the politicians who go along with it, that's what I can't understand.

I'm in the UK and during the Labour leadership campaign I watched Lisa Nandy wittering on about 'denying transpeople's right to exist'. I'm sorry, what? How on earth is believing that biological sex is real 'denying transpeople's right to exist'? As you say, it's all ideology built on a house of cards.

Refusing to participate in another person's delusions is the sensible thing to do. I am so tired of politicians whose minds are so open that their brains have fallen out.
