All parties are corrupt. That's their nature. The Green Party always had some issues, but it was an okay protest vote until after Jill Stein. Now it's a shit show.

The real solution is direct democracy - but TPTB won't let that happen.

I agree that all parties are corrupt, but I don't think the solution is direct democracy. Democracy is a tyranny of the majority, two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. I don't want 51% of the masses to be able to vote away my rights.

Yes, this is why the constitution is so important, without it the majority would have taken all of those rights away on a whim more than once.

1000% agree. Democracy IS tyranny of the majority. And the masses are asses - yet proven way smarter than average with collective wisdom. (Situations and circumstances may vary.)

I'd rather be ruled by the tyranny of the majority than the tyranny of the 0.0001%.

Critically important: The masses must be fairly informed on that which they vote on. Our "education" systems and media propaganda have ruined all that. Fair, open, transparent, censor-free communications are a critical first step.

We are all born with all the rights. Government can only claim to take rights away, never able to give rights. All governments are mafias proven illegitimate via their monopoly on violence. Rights or not, they will do what they want, write what laws they want, and break what laws they want. Rules for thee, but the rulers and their minions are never held accountable.

The Green Party in the US are okay as a protest vote, but I wasn’t talking about them. The Green Party of Ireland are horrible. They are in a coalition government with two so-called right wing governments. The coalition closed down power plants and increased the cost of living. They imposed lockdowns and vaccine mandates until June 2021 and January 2022 respectively. Horrible politicians.

I recently learned that The Green Party has always been fucked up serving the corporatocracy. Their proposed policies have always sounded good but, as usual, end up doing the opposite and harm. The Climate Change Scam™ is a MAJOR distraction from real toxic environmental problems, etc.

In the U.S. Howie Hawkins is THE WORST. The Green Party has been utterly infiltrated and subverted and gone full commie. Canada too.

I don't know much about Ireland's Green Party, but it sounds like if I did I'd be full of ire about it too. By your description, as predictable now, they sound like astroturfed green-washed corporatocracists - same as any politicians, but with the additional layers of Machiavellian deception making them slightly worse.

Lesser or greater evils are all still evil. Evil rules the world.

Fuck voting for the lesser of two evils. I’d rather let the system collapse.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

They are intentionally manufacturing the collapse.

They'll live in figurative, virtual, and actual castles with all they need to weather the storm.

We will all suffer.

When we rebuild, they'll still claim power, and things will be organized as they want it for their Great Reset and the New World Order.

This pattern will continue for eternity.

Unless we create our own robust, resilient, flexible, sustainable alternatives and solutions that can resist their bullshit and that we can survive and thrive within.

[–]RedEyedWarrior 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

That is true. Maybe collapse won’t be such a good idea after all.

If it’s any consolation, we'll all be dead. I hope that my afterlife will be better than this. Apparently, according to Christianity, the souls of the good people will ascend into heaven, while the evil inherit the earth but that is all they will get.

As an atheist, wishful afterlife bullshit is never any consolation.

And as much as I wish there was a Hell for those who deserve it, I cannot lie to myself.

Direct democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. It is far worse than everything but communism, so far at least. I'm sure the communists will come up with something worse at some point.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Not even close to being accurate or true.

Would you rather the masses get a vote on whether the CRT and CGT and trans agenda are taught in schools - or would you rather just follow your "leaders"? Who's being eaten in this example?

Direct authentic democracy is, like life, never ideal or perfect. But at least it's a bottom-up say in things.

Capitalism, fascism, socialism, and communism are all top-down and corrupt as fuck.
