She was exclusively with women before, she wasn't exclusively a lesbian. The issue I have is with this isn't so much that she misidentified that she was a lesbian, people figuring themselves out can make mistakes. Although the bit about her making out with dudes is frustrating. But the part that irritates me more is she doesn't say she used to identify as a lesbian, and now realizes she was bisexual, she says she was a lesbian.

I didnt see a lot of comments about surrogacy. Most of them were about 'why is the picture in a hospital bed?'. Not sure if those people were GC or not, seems like a dumb question, it's a cute photo they aren't pretendong they gave birth. And as for all the covid stuff this is likely in the maternity ward, I highly doubt they are housing sick patients there.

Anyway for people saying kids should have a mother, I would say ideally all kids would have good male and female roll models in their lives. But having a mother doesn't mean having a good parent. Lots of mothers are terrible and I would bet most gay parents are better than a lot of straight parents. For the specific reason that any gay couple having kids, whether surrogacy or adoption they have planned and prepared to have kids. Lots of straight couples have accidental pregnancies or have kids cause it's the thing to do. It's real easy to have a kid of you are straight, you don't need money, you don't have to pass any reviews to be approved to have children.

There is something to say about kids having trouble growing up without their biological parents. Lots of Adopted kids struggle with that. I imagine kids of surrogacy(assuming the bio mom isn't someone close to the couple) have similar issues and struggles with not knowing one of their bio parents. Don't know if that's true though.

The point of women being able to sell their bodies and the potential damage and exploitation there is a conversation worth having I think, but as someone else pointed out. The vast majority of surrogacy is for straight couples, not gay ones.

Why is "gay" usually used as an adjective, while "lesbian" is usually used as a noun? by 7874 in LGBDropTheT

[–]SickOfThisShit 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think because gay doesn't mean homosexual male. It just means homosexual, which is also an adjective. Although it can be used as a noun, as can gay but it sounds wierd. Being a lesbian is specifically being a homosexual female.

Maybe I'm wrong and it does actually mean homosexual male, and it's just been used otherwise. But to my understanding it is mostly used to refer to men, but does not have to be.

Mixed feelings, it has a fair amount of actual lesbians on it, but there are times where everyone has to tread carefully not to say the wrong thing. Probably the best you can get on reddit, but it feels like there are times the mods prioritize the feelings of transwomen over being able to talk about being homosexual.

I agree that its likely a combination of things that lead to homosexuality, but I also think it doesn't matter. Whether people are 'born that way' or not it's not a choice. The idea that one can choose to be a lesbian implies that you can choose not to be a lesbian. It makes being a lesbian some political standpoint or belief.

The way she writes this makes it sound like she is bisexual, I don't know if that is true, I don't know much about her. She may be a lesbian and really does view it as a choice, in the sense that you can choose whether to live as a lesbian or stay in the closet and live as if you were heterosexual. I'm speculating on what she means a bit because I'm honestly a little confused by how she is defining choice.

Either way I don't agree with her viewpoint and I think saying you can choose to be a lesbian is damaging to lesbians.

Sorry are you agreeing with the lgb alliance here? We absolutely asked for laws and languages to be changed, anti discrimination laws, to protect gay and lesbians from losing there jobs or homes, from being harassed for being gay. Gay marriage wasn't always legal and even if you don't care about that lots of gay people did, and pushed for it. Gay people weren't always allowed in the army, that had to be changed. I'm sure there are more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

It's still very new so it's not that active yet, but it's got a posting section called treehouse, kind of like here or reddit, you can upvote or downvote and comment on posts. There is a section where you can post pictures, kind of like Instagram. You can comment on or like the pictures. There will be a dating section though it's not up yet. While there isn't a ton of content yet I like the set up and the aesthetic. The woman who made the app is also taking feedback. She is very nice and open to criticism but she also has made it clear it's a place for homosexual woman and she isn't budging on that.

There is a six months free trial period after that there will be a monthly subscription, apparently to have it be a private exclusive club there has to be a membership fee. I think in order to have a truly exclusive space especially for dating it's worth the price, but you can try it out before you have to pay.

I had a few 'crushes' on guys when I was in elementary and high school. I mean they weren't really crushes looking back on them they were me picking guys I thought I could like because in my friend groups the question of 'which boys did you like' would come up all the time or we'd do quizzes on what your dream guy is like and I'd have to come up with answers. At the time though I didn't realize I was gay and the crushes I did have on some of my friends just didn't register as crushes. The idea I could have feelings for another girl just wasn't something on my radar. I wasn't surrounded by homophobia or anything, its just all the media I saw and all the relationships I witnessed were women being with men. The idea I could be anything other than straight just didn't occur to me until much later.

It's possible they were always bisexual, it's also possible that changing hormones could change people's sexuality. We don't even really know what causes people to be homosexual, its entirely possible that introducing other hormones could cause it to change. This would not make it a choice. They didn't choose to change their sexuality it was a result of the chang in hormones effecting their body.

Or like other people said they could be lying, but given the significant lack of research in this area I'm not going to pretend to know whether it is or isn't possible.

But jesus christ, fuck the LGB Alliance if this is what they stand for, or at least fuck this chapter since I'm not sure how connected the different groups are other than the name. Also if you are advocating for gay people why the fuck are you even weighing in on Intersex people's rights. Everyday I lose a little bit more faith in humanity, I'm surprised I have any left.

Also, does anyone know any good intersex organizations or charities? Be nice to know if there are any good places to donate to or support that actually advocates for intersex rights.

I thought I was asexual for about a year before realizing I was a lesbian. Looking back I definitely had a couple crushes on girls in school, but I didn't realize it at the time, I just thought I wanted to be friends with them or something. In general I'm pretty introverted and don't feel the need to be in a relationship, plus I have a low libido so that all contributed to first assuming I was asexual before realizing I was gay.

It looks legit from everything I can see so far, I get that everyone is nervous but I hope everyone doesn't just write this off. It's hard to make exclusive lesbian spaces and I think it would be really sad to see this fail because everyone was too scared to try it.
