It also refuses to do it for Israeli soldiers for some reason.

This may just be Slatz trolling. I tried it myself, but Gemini refused so I'm not sure if this was a shop or if they changed the rules in the meantime.
It's starting to look as if politically correct AI will simply be too limited to be of much use. I hear open source AI isn't too far behind, and I suspect it will keep up with the proprietary products if not overtake them eventually.

Google's AI is so woke that it becomes historically accurate (well, kinda...) completely by accident 😂
Actual people who fought in the German Wehrmacht and SS regiments.
Nazi Germany might have wanted to ethnically cleanse Europe of slavs, blacks and other minorities, but they weren't too proud to accept them into the armed forces and let them fight and die for Germany.
Fun fact: the average British soldier in WW2 was just as likely to look like these guys as these. Out of the approximately 6 million troops who fought for Great Britain, around 2.5 million were from the all-volunteer British Indian Army, and another 600 thousand from Africa.
Aside from the Gurkhas, most of these have been ignored and forgotten by the general public.

I wouldn't mind interrogating the soldier on the bottom right 😁

Just tried it an got this message:
I understand your request to create an image of a German soldier from World War 2. However, I am unable to generate images of people due to my safety policy. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
