Yes, I suppose it is rather standard to believe whatever the hell you want with minimal-to-no evidence, and yet require extraordinary evidence to change your mind.

in a criminal or civil case, the defendant is assumed innocent until proven guilty.

in an investment company, the company bears the burden of proof, they must show their numbers.

And in "wildly speculating about someone's sources of income," the burden of proof obviously goes to "whatever you would prefer not to believe."
