I don't know about their qualifications. They spread misinformation, so that tells me something about them.

My point about credentials is solely in reference to the "Dr." in the title, as I note that Hotez is indeed a Dr, not a "Dr.". He also doen't spread misinformation, so that would make him somewhat more qualified than those who spread misinformation. My main points are #s 2-3.

How have you determined that this is 'misinformation' if you don't know their qualifications or haven't compared and contrasted the claims and data in the competing theories of disagreeing experts

The articles I linked to and other items that turn up in a quick search note that both Malone and Kory have been spreading anti-vax misinformation. I assumed they are not lying about Malone and Kory.

Thats real top-notch investigative medical research Dr., you sure showed me how to science

It's of course nothing personal, and I doubt you'll see any of my comments as surpring. There are plenty of users here who will support the anti-vax propaganda, though of course I won't. Dark money paying for the anti-vax websites should be exposed. And I'm not that well educated.

No, I'm not surprised. But your slurring of people who have a different conclusion is totally unjustified when you are taking this position dogmatically on faith rather than an understanding of the data and arguments underlying the positions. You aren't sufficiently informed on the science to be tossing around these accusations unless you have examined the relevant claims and evidence - especially when there are credible experts with dissenting opinions - and you have not done this

opinions

Anti-vax misinformation helped spread COVID and developed a following who'd rather believe in lies than in facts. Those spreading anti-vax misinformation helped ruin the lives of millions of people. Funding for that anti-vax misinformation came from very wealthy donors who benefitted directly when small businesses failed and Big Corp profited. These anti-vax people also believe the lies of Trump and others like him. These are facts. This is not a matter of opinion. Numerous people have suffered personally and financially from the misinformation. Whereas my earlier note is about me and what I know, none of this is about me or my level of education. We know that the scientific community for over a century have shown how vaccines reduce the spread of viruses. We also know that anti-vax misinformation helped spread COVID. Sorry Phooey, as you know, I've written this in various ways over the past 2+ years on Saidit because I think we should understand how costly the anti-vax propaganda has been, who paid for it, and why the 99% need to respond to the corruption of Big Corp and some of the 1%.

How are you going to convince me of scientific facts by arguing that the other facts have bad political views, what the fuck is this nonsense. This is literally anti-science

[–]UncleJemima 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

I don't have to be convincing. There is nothing rhetorical to consider. Indeed, the scientific research and facts of that sort are obvious to anyone willing to read about them.

Malone and Kory argue against science and facts, claiming that they have better options than the entire scientific community.

You've already stated your unfamiliarity with the scientific basis of their opinions. Science doesn't work like that. At one point scientific consensus was the earth is flat, but it wasn't

You are making Argumentum ad Populum - a fallacious argument

Unless you are familiar with the data underlying both sides of these scientific opinions, you yourself have no philosophical right to one of your own - all you have are appeals to fallacious arguments

Anti-vax misinformation helped spread COVID

How? The vaccine doesn't stop the spread of covid.

Funding for that anti-vax misinformation came from very wealthy donors who benefitted directly when small businesses failed and Big Corp profited.

I'd like to know who profits off 2 cent doses of ivermectin. The only profit motive I see is in the billions of dollars that went to the mRNA shots. It was strange how ivermectin was demonized. I mean I have never seen anything like it before and pharmaceuticals have been an interest of mine for the last twenty years. That response was unprecedented. It seems like ivermectin should help as it acts like a DMARD -- so does metformin which was shown to reduce mortality by 50% -- and those immune suppression drugs work by stopping the cytokine storm seen in severe cases of covid that was responsible for patient deaths.

It really seems like cheap drugs that work were actively suppressed for a big pharma big payday.

Furthermore, while I don't see how covid shot skepticism hurt many people, failure to explore the potential of DMARDs in covid might have led to half a million preventable deaths. Your side has the blood on your hands as far as I can tell. A whole fuckload of it.

We've been over this numerous times in the past 2+ years. Surely you remember the usual arguments I've repeated over and over again, and indeed my approaches to this are quite common elsewhere. I've also explained the dangers within my comments in this thread. I've also not discussed Ivermectin, except to laugh at the absurdity of it. Look at Amazon's profits, during a time when small businesses failed. Also notice that Amazon appears to be 90% Chinese-made items. Prices are up and Big Corp are making windfall profits. Extreme income inequality increased world-wide during the COVID pandemic. That should be our focus.

I didn't look at your username. I thought you were one of the wotb peeps. I wouldn't have bothered if I had known, you don't listen. Nevertheless, I challenge you to find anything wrong with what I wrote.
