Likely because he kept saying he was innocent.

You get better treatment if you are guilty and play nice.

The real question is since when are they throwing a purse snatcher in jail for six days?

For the last 3 years it's usually been an automatic release with an apology.

I was under the impression that this is happening in states with many left leaning voters, and would assume that Louisiana is likely not one of the states with progressive Soros backed DA's and legislature, but I don't know enough to cite you any facts here

But 6 days for purse snatching seems a little severe even in a red state unless the person they thought he was was suspected of other more serious crimes.

Yeah seems unlikely on its own. Maybe previous convictions, or parole? The other possibility, being a red state, is if he can't pay bail, and the courts are backed up, it's not unheard of that people sit there for a while. This is one of the issues that prompted the left states to do away with bail even for major violent offenses, which is now backfiring

Right now that's a bug, but it won't be long before they turn it into a feature.

Some people have the same face.

A.I. is notoriously poor at recognizing black people, not because they are more homogenous in appearance than other races in terms of facial geometry, but because the datasets compiled to train the A.I. don't have an adequate number of samples of blacks

And let me take a wild guess, that lack of samples is because they don't want to risk racially profiling black people with biometric ID systems like this?

I think thats pretty close to what I gathered from working in A.I. for a few years

The industry narrative is "non-black researchers are just implicitly biased and favor non-black samples", which may or may not be true, but I doubt is the entire picture even if it is.

Because I will also say that nobody wants ethnic data in those datasets, because they are fucking terrified the A.I. will learn statistic relationships that are considered 'racist'. I always see that kind of demographic info intentionally omitted, even where it would be relevant, such as when using it to diagnose diabetes and heart disease from patient records and labs. There has been a huge fear of creating racist A.I. for a long time. Although in this case, it made the A.I. more racist to ignore 'blackness' in the datasets

The real issue here is how we routinely cage and punish people who have not been convicted of a crime. This person ONLY was caged 6 days. The average time waiting in jail for just some preliminary motions to drop charges that you are obviously innocent of is more like 2 to 5 months. If it goes to trial, it could be 6 months....if you demand the speediest trial, which may hurt your ability to defend yourself, like being caged does anyways. If you have a REAL trial, it will take time. I've seen an innocent man stay in county jail for 2 years before finally finishing his trial and being found not guilty.

There is NO compensation for this time caged. In fact, many jails will still bill you for your stay and not release you until that bill is paid!

Imagine jackboot thugs with guns, kidnap you, throw you in a cage for 2 months, then the court dismisses the charges, which were a mistake, and you have a $300 bill to pay for you stay in a cage....or they will not release you. I have paid that $300 for a friend this very thing happened to.

When you are locked in a cage, with sensory deprivation, forced to eat an entirely different diet, with nutritional deprivation, then are refused most of your doctor prescribed medications, as their jail doctor will substitute....then, spend that time in a dangerous and high stress environment.....that is how your time leading up to trial where you must skillfully defend yourself from prosecution in a complex and archaic system, requiring you to collect evidence, somehow, to show your innocence. - Setup to fail
