The real question is since when are they throwing a purse snatcher in jail for six days?

For the last 3 years it's usually been an automatic release with an apology.

I was under the impression that this is happening in states with many left leaning voters, and would assume that Louisiana is likely not one of the states with progressive Soros backed DA's and legislature, but I don't know enough to cite you any facts here

    But 6 days for purse snatching seems a little severe even in a red state unless the person they thought he was was suspected of other more serious crimes.

    Yeah seems unlikely on its own. Maybe previous convictions, or parole? The other possibility, being a red state, is if he can't pay bail, and the courts are backed up, it's not unheard of that people sit there for a while. This is one of the issues that prompted the left states to do away with bail even for major violent offenses, which is now backfiring
